Why I’m Charlie – the accidental
http://wildmoon.us/why-im-charlie
Why I’m Charlie. Posted by kc on January 10, 2015 in Current Events. My life and times. After terrorists gunned down 10 Charlie Hebdo journalists and two police officers in Paris this week, social media was flooded with JeSuisCharlie and IAmCharlie hashtags. I joined. And after the deluge, another flood this time blog posts and articles about why I’m not Charlie, more than a few from my colleagues in journalism. But I respectfully disagree with the decision to reject I am Charlie, and here’s why. Anybody...

Posted by kc on December 30, 2015 in Current Events. My life and times. I’m not saying I think you should do that too, although you certainly could if you wanted (just watch out for Facebook’s fake name policy). My friend and former colleague, though, asked what those of you who can’t be as outspoken as I am could do in these trying times. And every time you make a difference, you create change. Do some humans make dangerous and frightening decisions? It’s slow, I know. But it snowballs. Starting...It...

Culture – the accidental
http://wildmoon.us/culture
Posted by kc on June 22, 2014 in Treatise. A culture based on our separateness, one that highlights our differences and pits “us” against “them”, is not stable. A world that consists of unstable cultures is explosive. Previous post in series. Explosive. And dangerous. Deadly. There are just too many hard edges, too many places for friction and conflict. And in their absence, we tend to create them. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? It isn’t easy to stop looking outside ourselves for answers to our problems....

Why I’m Charlie. Posted by kc on January 10, 2015 in Current Events. My life and times. Anybody can be a target for satire. Up, down, right, left, under, over. Doesn’t matter. We don’t have to like it, read it, watch it, or even acknowledge its existence if we’d rather not. Drop your email address here and I'll let you know when there's a new post. What I’ve said recently. In defense of mockery. Why I’m Charlie. I ain’t the fortunate one. Helpful hints to not appear racist. Check out these sites.

Aggression – the accidental
http://wildmoon.us/aggression
Posted by kc on July 1, 2014 in Treatise. Previous post in the series. In one of those situations, no one angrily denounced anyone else, no one called for the horrible deaths of anyone else, no one prepared their weapons of killing to do their job. Stillness and calm, violence and aggression. The contrast is glaring, painful. Peace … is. Conflict, war, aggression … these are aberrations, things we have layered on top of our world for so long that we sometimes think of them as “human...And it all comes fr...

Blinders – the accidental
http://wildmoon.us/blinders
Posted by kc on July 6, 2015 in Current Events. My life and times. Last week sometime, I saw a note received by a black Mobile, Alabama, city councilman. It was a plain white index card affixed with a Confederate flag and the words We have to live with you n* * s so live with our flag. Turns out, I didn’t have to look very hard to find the answer. It was right there in my childhood. The bunkers are at the top of that hill; the railroad tracks are behind it. The reason: We didn’t talk about it. Even m...
