A common-sense attitude to wine. Ask me a wine question. Newer posts →. How smell is like vision, and what that means for wine. June 16, 2016. Considering the very different impressions that vision and smell make on us, there are surprising similarities in how the two senses are processed before they reach the brain. And it is quite possible that these similarities may throw some light on how we describe the aromas we find in wine. Can be seen below – click to enlarge and make the text legible. As far as...

Bonzai Sushi | Eyes on the prize
https://riponia.wordpress.com/2015/08/11/bonzai-sushi
Eyes on the prize. A food and drink blog for Leicestershire. August 11, 2015. Leicester is to get another sushi restaurant. Has been trading successfully in Carlton Street, Nottingham, for seven years and the Leicester branch is their first expansion. It will be located in the former Petit Four, on the corner of Hotel Street and Horsefair Street opposite McDonalds. Which has been exciting Leicester’s sushi lovers this year. I do hope there’s room for both. Filed in Eating out. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Eyes on the prize. A food and drink blog for Leicestershire. November 18, 2014. One of the great joys for a restaurant lover is to visit a tiny, unprepossessing place you’ve probably walked past before and barely noticed, and discover it is doing completely wonderful food. So today I share with you Kuru Kuru Sushi. On Welford Road in Leicester city centre. I’m no expert on sushi – and my last visit to Yo! Crispy salmon skin hand roll. Now confirmed as opening in nearby Welford Place on Valentine’s ...

Eyes on the prize. A food and drink blog for Leicestershire. Paddy’s Marten Inn. July 28, 2015. Paddy’s Marten Inn. Open: weekdays 5.30pm -10.30pm, weekends 5.30pm-11.pm. Cost – two courses, around 13. 8 out of 10. I could understand why. It was a welcoming, unpretentious place offering a great range of food in a buzzing environment. I wasn’t surprised when a few years later in 2011 Jamie Oliver found his way there and featured the place in his Jamie’s Great Britain series,. More fish loveliness was had ...

Eyes on the prize. A food and drink blog for Leicestershire. Java jive at St Martin’s. July 25, 2015. I enjoyed a splendid lunch a St Martin’s Tea and Coffee. Enthusiastic review of her vegan Jakarta Gado Gado, I wondered what was prompting this South East Asian fest. The answer is a new chef has joined Chris Elliman and his team and it’s Bobby Ananta from Java. You might have seen Bobby preparing a fantastic seabass dish in one episode of Nigel Slater’s recent series Eating Together. Filed in Eating out.

Haycock and Tailbar – exotic steaks on Belvoir St | Eyes on the prize

Eyes on the prize. A food and drink blog for Leicestershire. Haycock and Tailbar – exotic steaks on Belvoir St. August 13, 2015. An intriguing new venue opens in Leicester this weekend. Haycock and Tailbar Associates open a “cocktail and supper room” on Belvoir Street. It has low-key branding with just a logo on a big black door, so no windows or other signage. It’s actually the building that was Young’s Camera shop on the corner of Albion St and Belvoir St. Starters also include exotics, though nice as ...
