A Quantum Diaries Survivor. Private thoughts of a physicist and chessplayer. Devotion to the Tevatron. October 2, 2011. Posted by dorigo in physics. This post first appeared on my current site, www.science20.com/quantum diaries survivor. Please note that I post on this site quite rarely. Please visit me on the science20 site for updates on experimental particle physics and more! I’m nostalgic tonight. The reason? The Tevatron has finally stopped running, for good. Now I should explain that, since English...

A Quantum Diaries Survivor. Private thoughts of a physicist and chessplayer. Standard Model or Minimal SUSY? April 6, 2014. Posted by dorigo in physics. I posted the text below in my current blog, which is at this link. I post it here as well as I would like to keep this blog active by writing something here now and then – TD). Today, the top quark mass is measured with a 770 MeV uncertainty. So, what should we carry home from this graph? Keplero’s blog (I). Tim Krabbe’s site. Marco Schwarz (in italian).

The Spacetime Metric: December 2006
http://spacetime-metric.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 23, 2006. More than a scientific debate. My nineteenth birthday was Wednesday, but it was also the tenth anniversary of the death of Carl Sagan, who can be considered one of the first major popularizers of science. The popularization of science is, as we know, a noble cause, but it does have its problems. One thing that no one seems to notice anymore is the difference in political ideology between the authors of "Not Even Wrong" and the Reference Frame. Woit's homepage. Para; 1:17 PM.

The Spacetime Metric: February 2007
http://spacetime-metric.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 23, 2007. The road less traveled. What is the "trouble with physics"? A Too many theories to choose from. B Not enough real physics jobs. C Having to compete with stamp collectors (people in other fields). D All of the above. Is getting thrown around a lot. The obvious answer is "go to grad school", but since only about 15 percent of RPI graduates (all majors included) go to grad school, I don't think we're really prepared for it. So what's the answer? Why is physics less popular? The ph...

A Quantum Diaries Survivor. Private thoughts of a physicist and chessplayer. In this page I collect a few links to posts I have written since 2005, first on the Quantum Diaries blog. Http:/ blogs.quantumdiaries.org/6/. And then in the present one. I have made no attempt at rationalizing the order, but I tried to give a very small hint at the real content of the posts. I will put more order here as soon as I have a chance…. So let’s do this in chronological order, starting from the new blog:. 8220;, May 5...
