Art blog of a skeptic birder science nerd. Posted on Feb - 11 - 2014. Shrikes are obscenely cute for something so ferocious, and I’m terribly fond of them. I spied this young bird streaking past while out searching for Snowy Owls on Saturday, and promptly turned the car around for a better look. Click here to cancel reply. Dragon In My Garage. Art blog of a skeptic birder science nerd. Posted on Feb - 23 - 2014. Murder & Parliament. Realized moments too late that the ink I’d used on the crows wasn’t waterproof — had to cover up my nice wash with some pasty gouache to fix it. Ah, well. Watercolour, pen and coloured pencil. Art blog of a skeptic birder science nerd. Archive for the ‘Field Sketches’ Category. Posted on Jul - 05 - 2014. A collection of moths from last weekend. Someone left the deck light on one evening, and by morning there was a variety of interesting critters clinging to the board and batten siding. Art blog of a skeptic birder science nerd. Posted on Jan - 16 - 2014. Dragon In My Garage. I began this book as a summer project and intended to finish it for Carl Sagan Day. Back in November, but life inevitably got in the way and I slid past more than a few self-imposed deadlines. I was paging through my copy of Carl Sagan’s The Demon-Haunted World. 3 Responses so far. January 20, 2014 at 1:06 am. I turned it into a PDF and read it to my kids at bedtime. They love it! January 20, 2014 at 8:40 pm. Szabo...

Friday, July 31, 2009. Tim Wootton, a really fantastic artist. Tim Wootton is a UK artist from Orkney. I would describe his style as "impressionistic realism," a very tasteful balance between the two styles. I love the depth of color and atmosphere he achieves in his work. There's no doubt he's very talented! From his website ( www.tim-wootton.com. Some of his superb artwork. All images borrowed from. Wednesday, July 29, 2009. A Collection of My Artwork. Elina's Corner: Little steps are the beginning? And sheep.
http://elinas-corner.blogspot.com/2015/02/little-steps-are-beginning.html
Drawings, sketches, paintings and photography. Tuesday, 24 February 2015. Little steps are the beginning? No clear cut plan here. I just need to start drawing again, even if it's just a doodle here, another there. Ps And because the face of that sheep seemed quite off, I did a couple of sketches with photographs I took from sheepherding a couple of weeks back. Time to study how a sheep is constructed for real instead of guesswork. Time to start drawing to learn! Face studies of sheep. R B Talbot Kelly.
Elina's Corner: Long time, no draw

Drawings, sketches, paintings and photography. Tuesday, 23 October 2012. Long time, no draw. But now it hit. Drawing inspiration. Naturally in the middle of the night. So I did this, thinking it would be a quick sketch. Must've worked on it for almost/at least two hours in the end. Time to sleep? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thursday, February 01, 2007. As you can see, I've begun painting the water, first establishing some shadows and adding some preliminary highlights. It needs some work, but I like how it's coming along. The bill shape is also corrected. This evening I added the shadow to the head and the left flank- wow! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Wednesday, November 08, 2006. Birds in the Mist. Well, I mentioned that last week Friday, I got to go out to the Clineline wildlife reserve trail for my b-day. The heavy morning fog made it interesting for photography, but I came away with quite a few acceptable photos. I thought these shots were pretty. Hey, has anyone tried switching their blog to the new version? As long as no content (posts, comments) is lost, I'm going to do it. The new template editing capabilities are just too good :). http://thescolopaxchronicles.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Tales from a Kent Wildlife artist. Wednesday, 11 July 2012. I confess I'd let my website remain stagnant for too long so, over the past few weeks, I've been beavering away trying to create a new look and uploading some of the work done over the past year or so. The whole process is frustrating in the extreme, you think you've got something nailed, then you look at your beautiful page in a different browser and it turns into a cubist's nightmare without rhyme nor reason! The Scolopax chronicles: A bit of a tangent
http://thescolopaxchronicles.blogspot.com/2014/05/a-bit-of-tangent.html
Tales from a Kent Wildlife artist. Tuesday, 13 May 2014. A bit of a tangent. I love to paint birds. I was once asked in an interview with a local newspaper 'Why birds? Oil on canvas board. This scene was captured on a day when the light was pretty grey and fairly flat but it was so evocative of so many scenes on the coastal marshes around the area that I live that I couldn't resist. Towards Uplees from Dan's Dock. But, in the end I will always come back to the birds. The Moorhen and the Speck. Thanks Sue...
