Camp News. . . and any other "news". A testimony of God's work in my life and my story as a missionary to inner-city kids in Chicago. Tuesday, May 10, 2011. This past weekend was Camp Beechpoint's 7th Annual Benefit Auction and Steak Fry! The song Grateful by Hezekiah Walker. Has been flowing from my heart for days. The total received from the auction was just over $68,000! Praise God for his favor and provision! Here are a couple of camper testimonies from last summer. Lives are changed at camp! A coupl...

Our Personal Homeschooling Experience. Figuring things out…. Discovering, a little more, why we are homeschooling. Whew what a day…. September 18, 2010. Okay, so by the title you may think I’ve had a long day, but I don’t think I’ve had a more intense 2 hours, than what I just had homeschooling my son, in my entire life🙂. But until then, I will continue to have fun on this journey with him and my daughter as well. Sep 19, 2010. Sep 21, 2010. I laughed out loud at the idea of a snow day! You are commenti...

Our Personal Homeschooling Experience. Our First Field Trip Day. Whew what a day…. Figuring things out…. September 17, 2010. We just went over this. So, I go over it again. As we talk, I ask him to start naming some birds. He starts going down his list – a pretty extensive one I thought (I was impressed). So, then I ask him to name some sea creatures. As he starts naming them, I whip out the laptop and start looking up their pictures…WOW! 1 Figuring out how my child learns best. I’m determined to g...

Our Personal Homeschooling Experience. Homeschooling2Us is a blog documenting our (Eddie and Deanna Mason’s) personal homeschooling experience with our two children Eddie, IV (Quad) and Kendall Maya. This is not a blog instructing on homeschooling, but hopefully will serve as a place where we can gain information and insight from others as we embark on this journey…and maybe we may even drop a helpful nugget of wisdom here and there. Our Personal Homeschooling Experience. Figuring things out…. Our First Field Trip Day. September 14, 2010. So, today we were off to the Planetarium. Daddy was off today so we were happy to make it a family event. It’s an added bonus that the Planetarium is free this entire week, so we were able to enjoy it without tapping the budget! My son is always asking about riding the train, for his father rides the train to work everyday. We decided that the train ride into the city was a must. Quad digging in the...

Our Personal Homeschooling Experience. I Don’t Want to Go to School! Curriculum is a Tool – You Control It; It Doesn’t Control You! October 29, 2010. The title of this blog is my latest learned lesson from my homeschooling experience. I have found myself feeling stressed, disappointed, and frustrated with my current curriculum. Not because there is anything wrong with it, but more so because:. 1 I was not moving through it at the pace I thought I should be. 2 It was not as interesting as I wanted it to be.

October 14, 2010. Now that I have about one good month of homeschooling under my belt, these are the words I am hearing from my son: “I don’t want to go to school, I want to play! 1 Go to school 5 days a week OR stick to you current 4 days a week schedule. God bless our homeschool journey. Our prayer each homeschool d...

Our Personal Homeschooling Experience. September 8, 2010. Today was our first day of home school. I HAD A BLAST! Both kids were excited to get rolling. My son actually, all on his own, began to call me “teacher” once we began. He said it with a chuckle too (he thought it was funny to call me that). Some of today’s highlights:. 2 My son is a wonderful learner…he catches on to concepts so quickly and remembers things so well. 3 I LOVE THE LIBRARY! We started around 10:15AM this morning which was later than...

Our Personal Homeschooling Experience. Curriculum is a Tool – You Control It; It Doesn’t Control You! December 8, 2010. It’s been a while since my last post. Much busyness in my life I guess. I have missed writing. I’m going to try to not have as long of a break from this blog in the future. 1 Financially – things have been tight. But honestly, they were tight when I was working. Even in the tightness, God has allowed us to pay off thousands of dollars in debt. His hand is on us. 4 I have contemplated mo...
