Expat Mum: British Driving Licence Matters
http://expatmum.blogspot.com/2011/08/british-driving-licence-matters.html
You Can Also Find Me At -. Monday, August 1, 2011. British Driving Licence Matters. A few weeks ago I wrote about. The nice man at the National car rental desk who told me I should have relinquished my old paper British driving licence (license, if you're in the States) years ago and on no account was I to show it to the police should I be stopped. I must admit it gave me quite a shock and I immediately logged on to the DVLA (Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency) web site. For Brits resident in the UK:.
Expat Mum: Hey - That's my Reputation You're Messing With
http://expatmum.blogspot.com/2010/06/hey-thats-my-reputation-youre-messing.html
You Can Also Find Me At -. Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Hey - That's my Reputation You're Messing With. As a writer and a blogger, there are times when I take a slightly controversial stance, and yes, sometimes I end up getting "yelled" at and called a few things. I can take it and give it back when desired. There are a few instances when it really gets under my skin however, and it's just happened again. My book, " Rules, Britannia. If you think you already know all there is to know about the UK, don't read.
Expat Mum: Living in Stupid Land
http://expatmum.blogspot.com/2015/08/living-in-stupid-land.html
You Can Also Find Me At -. Friday, August 7, 2015. Living in Stupid Land. With apologies to all non-stupid Americans. Really! What is going on here? Don't worry, I'm not about to go all political in this post but I must share some of the outrageous idiocy that people in the US are currently having to deal with. And who do we have leading the Republican pack? Donald Trump. Yes, THAT Donald Trump. And you thought Boris Johnson had dodgy hair. Hmmm Anyway, there's more -. Oh yes. He did. I will build a grea...
Expat Mum: Things I say to my Kids...repeatedly
http://expatmum.blogspot.com/2015/08/things-i-say-to-my-kidsrepeatedly.html
You Can Also Find Me At -. Sunday, August 2, 2015. Things I say to my Kids.repeatedly. I read this article last week. And it made me laugh out loud. It's a bit sweary but covers all the things you find yourself saying to your kids. The two that rang most true for me were "When was the last time you had it? Actually, instead of saying "When was the last time you had it? A few more things that I found myself repeating over the years are -. Can you please stop talking? I'm standing right next you. Put your ...
Expat Mum: How I get ready
http://expatmum.blogspot.com/2015/05/how-i-get-ready.html
You Can Also Find Me At -. Saturday, May 9, 2015. How I get ready. For some reason, The Guardian newspaper has a series of "How I Get Ready" columns featuring famous people basically, um, talking about how they get ready. Here's the one from Gene Simmons. Of KISS. Not as electrifying as you'd expect, with a mention of Ponds Cold Cream and facial steaming. He could at least have pretended to down a quart of Jack Daniels in the process. At least my long-time crush, Lawrence Llewleyn-Bowen,. In case I've pi...

St Bloggie de Riviere: Meet the Ambassador
http://www.sarahhague.com/2013/03/meet-ambassador.html
St Bloggie de Riviere. Things French, life in France, general wittering and the odd rant. Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Moi taken by a pro with soft focus and Photoshop. A couple of years ago. Meet your new Ambassador. Impressed? I know I don't look much like an Ambassador but that's because I haven't spent any years in the diplomatic service, but I have been living in Montpellier for absolutely ages. That, plus being a cheery soul (! As Ambassador, working together with another one, I help set up monthly get...
St Bloggie de Riviere: London Eye-fulls
http://www.sarahhague.com/2015/07/london-eye-fulls.html
St Bloggie de Riviere. Things French, life in France, general wittering and the odd rant. Thursday, July 30, 2015. The two months of summer here in Montpellier are the worst. It's too hot, and I'm tired of it. Fortunately, I missed two of the hottest weeks this year by going to England and Wales on holiday. Some people come south to burn on the beaches, I go north in search of heat relief. I found it too. I don't think it got above 20°C. Meanwhile, it was scorching ( caniculaire. We started the original ...
St Bloggie de Riviere: Looking back at my first ever post

St Bloggie de Riviere. Things French, life in France, general wittering and the odd rant. Thursday, December 01, 2011. Looking back at my first ever post. Over in the wilds that make up Mammasaurus. Domain, there is a blog hop link-up to post our first ever blog post. This weekend they are going to see their dad, so taxi duties will be replaced by. a void. I have writing work to do, but can I be arsed to do it? Maybe if it's raining, there's nothing on tele and no one to talk to. (unlikely, on Twitte...
London City (mum): December 2014
http://www.londoncitymum.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, 27 December 2014. Since the last grump-fest. Anyway. I have been very busy today. I decided, for some random reason - possibly related to the strand of post 'C' day craziness alluded to above although I have been nowhere near any shops for a fortnight or longer. To have a look at my Twitter followers. All 1117 of them. It makes for some. I have broken it down into statistical percentages* for your benefit. I'm a new mum/soon-to-be-mum/mother of eight-and-counting" followers: 23%. Actual people ...
London City (mum): What the eye sees - the revived version
http://www.londoncitymum.com/2015/08/what-eye-sees-revived-version.html
Tuesday, 4 August 2015. What the eye sees - the revived version. It is not a secret that I love people watching. Sit me in a café window or on a bench in an airport or railway station and I will be very content for an hour or two just observing everybody passing by and providing suitable sartorial commentary in my head. Sometimes even out loud when in company, which scares the bejeezus out of OH (he is still very British in this regard). That is me now. I suppose a case of justice served. Let's get one t...
London City (mum): When all else fails, head to Sweden
http://www.londoncitymum.com/2015/06/when-all-else-fails-head-to-sweden.html
Monday, 8 June 2015. When all else fails, head to Sweden. So Things appear to be on an eternal 'go-slow' loop at the moment. Calls are not returned. Emails take days to be answered. Individuals require endless chasing for updates. Replies are not exactly what you are hoping for. Projects take forever and then more to get off the ground. Work undertaken comes consistently under the perennial 'free' banner. The one saving grace is that the hard proof copy of my book. But there are things to look forward to.
London City (mum): October 2014
http://www.londoncitymum.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, 30 October 2014. Musings of posts gone by. When I started out on this (blogging) journey, way back in July 2009, I had two reasons for taking it up: a) sanity, and b) amusement. The company I was working for at the time had recently been taken over by another, and what initially appeared to be a fantastic opportunity and investment for all involved turned out to be, as ever, the biggest disappointment this side of the Tooth Fairy. Either way, someone snitched (yes, I know who). Sanity is a fine...
London City (mum): August 2015
http://www.londoncitymum.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, 23 August 2015. Cut and paste (and a photo). It is holiday time. Loads of things going on, not all of them uplifting, but we are away nonetheless. In a place I know well and have loved for many years. Small mercies during trying times. And because whilst on leave I am also doing some writing and editing work (yes, really). For which I will be paid (yes, really, again). 8232;WORDS THAT ARE DIFFICULT TO SAY WHEN DRUNK:. Indubitably . WORDS THAT ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO SAY WHEN DRUNK:. Are renown fo...
London City (mum): March 2015
http://www.londoncitymum.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 24 March 2015. How not to interview. Let me tell you a little secret. I have almost finished my book. The one I am writing, that is, not the ones I read for Kevin. And I say 'almost' because it has been a labour of love for the past eighteen months and I still have. Five more chapters to write. Anyhow, the book. It is not a novel. It is not chick lit. It is not a crime thriller. It is definitely not science fiction. It is a career guide for women. And men, should they be that way inclined. The i...

You Can Also Find Me At -. Monday, March 19, 2018. I thought I'd left all this behind. Snow and cold, that is. Actually I'm not complaining. This so-called cold is not nice but it's positively balmy compared to what I've experienced in Chicago. I've written about it often,. I used to walk the dog looking like I was either going to scale the west face of Everest or rob a bank. You decide. Actually, I found this on Twitter and it made me chuckle. It's spot on. Expat Mum in Portugal
Expat Mum in Portugal. Wednesday, January 15, 2014. The post with no name! Wow, I have thought many, many times about this post. The returning post after a long absence. It difficult to know what to say, do you explain where you have been, why you have been away? As one of my blogging buddies recently wrote after a similar long absence, is anyone still out there? Does anyone care anymore about this blog, aside of me, who knows. Dearest blog, how I have missed you. Links to this post. Links to this post.
