In Expat Parentis - A Family Abroad: March 2010

http://expatparentis.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 15, 2010. Of bikes and belletjes. O, the hubris. And then I got my Dutch bike and started sitting bolt upright myself, quite simply because I didn't have any choice. The first thing I noticed was that my wrists weren't aching every time I got off my bike. The second thing I noticed was how much my knees thanked me for riding with my heels instead of the balls of my feet on the pedals. Score one for looking silly. Okay, I'm not quite that slow.). All of this brings me to a recent day when I ...

In Expat Parentis - A Family Abroad: January 2010

http://expatparentis.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 28, 2010. Dylan and I read the book. The other night at bedtime, and ever since he's been relentlessly asking when we can make stone soup for dinner. Well, tonight when I couldn't come up with any reason we couldn't, we finally made it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). In Expat Parentis - A Family Abroad. In Expat Parentis - A Family Abroad: June 2009

http://expatparentis.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 25, 2009. Best things to do with a euro. I'm making a list. I'll be checking it twice, but spending it only once. I'm collecting a list of the best kid-friendly things to do with a euro. Here it is so far:. 6) Go to a kinderboerderij. 5) Go to a speeltuin. 4) Shop at a vlooienmarkt. 3) Shop at the kringloop. 2) Get a kunststof bloemetje to wrap around the handlebars of your fiets. And my favorite for last:. 1) Get an ice cream cone at the gelato shop on the Groest in Hilversum. Each night,...

In Expat Parentis - A Family Abroad: A bit of Christmas repartee

http://expatparentis.blogspot.com/2009/12/bit-of-christmas-repartee.html

Sunday, December 13, 2009. A bit of Christmas repartee. Just now as I was getting lunch ready, Dylan came in and asked:. Mom, can I crawl under the Christmas tree and pretend to be a present? Er, no objection here, Dylan.". Okay, I just want to see what life is like under a tree for a while.". He proceeded to lay quietly under the tree for a few minutes, gazing up through the branches and humming. Not a bad way to pass the last bit of a December Sunday morning. In Expat Parentis - A Family Abroad: I had an orchestra in Amsterdam...

http://expatparentis.blogspot.com/2009/11/i-had-orchestra-in-amsterdam.html

Sunday, November 15, 2009. I had an orchestra in Amsterdam. Oh, that sounds lovely- what fun! And in a church it must have sounded great. I got a piano a few months ago and have been slowly re-learning after twenty-five years away. Its hard, and Im not any good, but its so much fun; the hours just melt away. (And now I can play Linus and Lucy, which Ive wanted to do since I was a little kid.). December 13, 2009 at 5:28 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). In Expat Parentis - A Family Abroad.

In Expat Parentis - A Family Abroad

Thursday, April 29, 2010. Difficult day today - last day of school. Difficult enough, but it was also "Sports Day" when the whole school traveled to a sport park and ran around in the sun all day - unusually hot and sunny. Then the buses broke down and they had to walk a mile or more back to school. Then the goodbyes. Violenschool families, we'll miss some of you more than we can possibly say. Monday, March 15, 2010. Expat Parent Ring

Friday, June 22, 2007. Hey there, is this thing on? I'm seeking advice from any expat parent who has actually had a baby in a foreign land. My first was born back in the US, but the second is due to be born in France in November. I will freely admit that I'm kind of freaking out over the family visits that will follow. Mind you, I'm not freaking out about having the baby in France. I'm actually looking forward to that part. Wednesday, March 28, 2007. Are you an Expat Parent? You're just a click away from...
