Move Breathe Be: Move Your Body
http://movebreathebe.blogspot.com/2010/07/move-your-body.html
Monday, July 26, 2010. Really drove home the importance of gently stretching in the morning (or at least once a day). The clip shows video of a human cadaver with actual muscle and internal body parts, so if you're squeamish, it might be a little disturbing. Check it out here on YouTube (or search this title): The "Fuzz" Speech. In addition to being informative, Gil Hedley (the narrator) is a riot. He wiggles through the entire speech and is just generally entertaining. In light and love. Are about 5 to ...

Move Breathe Be: January 2010
http://movebreathebe.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 31, 2010. Brain Power and Single-Tasking. All these random thoughts has had me thinking about meditation and why I find it so challenging. (I've posted on this before, and it is challenging enough that I should be posting on it more regularly.) But why is it so difficult? So what does this have to do with meditation? And once again I am left in awe of being human, of being a woman, and of being conscious in the world today. I'm off to practice. Sunday, January 24, 2010. Lao Tzu. 2001&...

Move Breathe Be: March 2010
http://movebreathebe.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 31, 2010. To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it.". Sunday, March 21, 2010. Laughter Is Welcome Here (or Recognizing Ego). Learning to set the ego aside means that I have to recognize that as an individual I am not the center of the collective universe (although I might be the center of my own individual universe). This takes a little bit of work. This does not mean that I have mastered it. Mastering this skill is likely to be a lifelong pursuit. Sunday, March 14, 2010.

Elliot's World: June 2012
http://iamelliot.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 10, 2012. Elliot has such a large vocabulary that at times I have to laugh hearing such big words in such a small voice. Recently, he has said some things that really made me laugh or warm my heart (or both) but he didn't get them just right. Me: "Elliot, how's is going in there? Elliot: It's going great because the way I build is really sopisticate. (Soo-pis-tic-ate). Elliot: "Mom, I can tell I'm growing because I'm not declakit anymore. (Dek-la-kit). Links to this post. Move Breathe Be: February 2010
http://movebreathebe.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 28, 2010. Slow down, You move too fast. Gotta make the moment last.". On two different occasions this past week I noticed myself rushing. First in my accordion lesson and later on my mat. In double time. The problem is the lack of thought that goes into the actions. The lesson for me is mindfulness. Bringing my full attention to the task at hand, which brings us back to the notion of single-tasking. I continue training myself in bringing my complete self to the tasks I undertake. Thi...

Move Breathe Be: December 2009
http://movebreathebe.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 30, 2009. My body hurts all over, but in a good way. Yesterday was an intensive day of physical activity with some yoga thrown in the mix, of course. And while I feel great, I also feel sore in some parts. It's funny how we tend to be more aware of our bodies when something is off. Do we ever stop to think of how our arms feel when there is no soreness? How often do we stop to notice that our teeth our clenched? Do you pay attention to the way the rib cage expands out 360-degrees?

Move Breathe Be: Peace In Acceptance
http://movebreathebe.blogspot.com/2010/05/peace-in-acceptance.html
Sunday, May 30, 2010. The expression pratipaksha bhavanam. Which is found in the ancient Vedic literature, asks us to strive to counter negativity, whether from within ourselves or from external forces, with positive energy or action. Often we do this naturally in our daily lives by cheering up someone who is hurting, praying for someone who is suffering from illness, or working to right a wrong we have observed. Meeting negativity with counter force. Sometimes there is equal value in taking the time to ...
