Let's see what happens. Tirsdag 3. mars 2009. Snow and blubber season. Here Anders and Stein Even are removing the blubber. Afterwards we washed the fur in dish washing detergent to get out the oil in the fur. Lastly we put all the furs into a big casket with salt brine. Last week we got at least 1 meter of snow onto of all the old snow. It had been snowstorm for 4 days, when the sun finally broke through again. Our frequently visited birdhouse with a snow hat! Last days in the ice. The last days were very busy. We finished all the student practicals and did all the sampling for the scientific projects. We were leaving the harp seal group a few days ago to find more hooded seals. We had success on the 2nd last day and found an other large harp seal area with many Bluebacks in between. On the way back we were even lucky enough to see Beerenberg (on Jan Mayen) in full sun shine. To sum it up, a few pictures from the last days:. Our home for the time of the cruise.
