firey: Madeline
http://teresawithfire.blogspot.com/2012/06/madeline.html
Monday, June 11, 2012. We carry her around in a sling and she is quite content to study her surroundings or sleep. She sleeps well in particularly noisy environments like restaurants, parties, or church. At seven weeks she is expressive, smiley, and still sleeps a lot. It's hard to capture her smile on film because she gets distracted by the camera; she wants me to be looking directly at her! But trust me, she's a smiley, laughing little kicker. Happy baby! firey: Our Charge
http://teresawithfire.blogspot.com/2012/01/our-charge.html
Sunday, January 29, 2012. This image by Ferdi Rizkiyanto. Struck me, and then a poem heard at our church this morning brought it home. Our charge, as parents, as citiczens, as consumers, as beings, is to care for one another. By George Ella Lyon (from Life Prayers. Ed by E. Roberts and E. Amidon). God signs to us. And we take cover. God is fed up. All the oceans she gave us. All the acres of steep seedful forests. And we did what. Invented the Great Chain. God sees us now. And storing our grain.

firey: December 2011

Thursday, December 01, 2011. You can find our annual winter/holiday letter at our couple/wedding blog, here. Links to this post. Well, as you might recall, I took a long while to decide what to do about my last name. After my wedding. My dear friend Fr. Joel suggested (jokingly? That I try a combination name like "Kicker". Nick couldn't be convinced to change his name to something so silly, and, well, that wasn't the answer I settled on. But now, there really is a Kicker in the family! Links to this post.

Nebulous Nebraska. Hazy, vague, indistinct, and confusing. Thursday, July 24, 2008. I have to give kudos to these guys at The Bitten Word. As Andrea can attest, I have been a long-time subscriber to several food magazines. They are piling up in our living room as we speak. Do I make any of the recipes found in them? Are resolving to put their food magazines to use. And, I applaud them. Check out their BBQ Chicken post. Food porn. I read dead people. Whoa is this really you, bronson? In the Line of Fire.

firey: Highlights from Sweden
http://teresawithfire.blogspot.com/2011/09/highlights-from-sweden.html
Sunday, September 11, 2011. Here's a pic of a full-sized Midsommar pole in Uppsala, Sweden, just to give you an idea:. Their town, Hedemora, is in central Sweden, known for the painted horses, and is generally adorable. There are many lake homes in the area as an escape for the people of Stockholm. We love traveling around small towns, to get the real flavor of a country. Iconic Swedish homes are painted rust-red (with paint made from iron ore and copper, which preserves the wood) with white or green trim.

firey: Indigenous Ainu in Hokkaido (and an Onsen)
http://teresawithfire.blogspot.com/2008/07/indigenous-ainu-in-hokkaido-and-onsen.html
Thursday, July 24, 2008. Indigenous Ainu in Hokkaido (and an Onsen). One of my goals in traveling around Hokkaido was to learn as much as I could about the indigenous people. We've visited several Ainu museums in Asahikawa. Niikappu, Sapporo, and now Akan. Perhaps that's my intention wherever I go, so as to be respectful to the history of those here. In some ways Japan is similar to the US, particularly in relation to the native indigenous population. And the onsen had an indoor cave, several hot and col...
