Pavement Ants

Is a common household pest. It is dark brown to blackish, and 2.5 4 mm long. The name comes from the fact that these ants usually make their homes in pavement. They are distinguished by one spine on the back, two nodes on the petiole, and grooves on the head and thorax. Yellow jackets are social hunters living in colonies containing workers, queens, and males. They measure 10 to 25mm long and are yellow and black stripped. Nests are built in trees, shrubs, or in protected places such as inside human-made structures (attics, hollow walls or flooring, in sheds, under porches, and eaves), or in soil cavities, mouse burrows, etc. Nests are made from wood fibre chewed into a paper-like pulp. Bed Bugs

An adult bed bug measures from 5 to 7 mm long. The body is rather oval, very flat and covered with fine golden hair. This insect has no wings. On an empty stomach, a bed bug is brown to yellowish brown. Once engorged, it becomes reddish brown and looks like a small apple seed. Carpenter Bees

The carpenter bee makes nests by tunnelling into wood, vibrating their bodies as they rasp their mandibles against the wood. Each nest having a single entrance which may have adjacent tunnels. The entrance is often a perfect circular hole, measuring about 16mm (0.63 in) on the underside of a beam or tree limb. Carpenter bees do not eat wood. Female carpenter bees are capable of stinging, they rarely sting unless caught in the hand or otherwise directly provoked. Certified by the Minister.
