Say What?: April 2015
http://onekgguy.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
My attempt at journaling. Saturday, April 25, 2015. Rachel was back at Canvas and Chardonnay a few nights ago. She texted Tammy and me this photo. Of the painting she'd done but we couldn't figure out what it was or if it was a finished product. Hmmm.a little later she sent us the completed painting (photo to the left). She was online tonight ordering some in-home monitors so she can more easily keep a watchful eye on her mother when she's in another room or while Tammy is working out or whatever. A few ...

Say What?: A Biker in the Making and Free Thinking
http://onekgguy.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-biker-in-making-and-free-thinking.html
My attempt at journaling. Saturday, July 25, 2015. A Biker in the Making and Free Thinking. I'll often use my breaks at work to write my blog but I'm finding little time for that lately. Between the Oshkosh airshow. Rachel had her first taste of distance cycling when she joined a volunteer group she was a part of in college (STLF). For a two day ride from Kenosha, Wisconsin to Chicago, Ilinois. In keeping with my blog being a place that I'll be returning to in years and decades from now I'd like to make ...

Say What?: November 2014
http://onekgguy.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
My attempt at journaling. Saturday, November 29, 2014. Thanksgiving Weekend, 2014. I was telling Tammy that I can't recall a better Thanksgiving weekend that we've enjoyed together than this past one. It was really nice. Rachel was up early Thursday to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade while working on a jigsaw puzzle that she and Tammy had started the night before. It wasn't quite the same as last Thanksgiving when she was in NYC and at the parade. It was so annoying and couldn't have come at a w...

Say What?: A "Doh!" Moment and Other Random Musings
http://onekgguy.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-doh-moment-and-other-random-musings.html
My attempt at journaling. Sunday, June 28, 2015. Moment and Other Random Musings. Speaking of retiring, we have several controllers retiring at the end of June: Tim Baker, Fred Damico, Grant Feest, Dave Hanson, Rob Ralston and Mark Anderson. We took Elaine to the zoo on Monday. She was excited to see the monkeys but she probably enjoyed the butterfly garden most of all. I can't remember the last time I was there. Rachel and I had a "Doh! Moment earlier in the week. We went to pick up her mattress at ...

Say What?: March 2015
http://onekgguy.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
My attempt at journaling. Saturday, March 28, 2015. 33 Years Ago Today and One More Shift for Tammy. Could I possibly be the last man standing out of all of us? Once we're retired and doing more traveling we'll want good coverage. One of the commenters to my Facebook post was Jay, a retired controller whose son works at the Verizon store in Apple Valley. He suggested. I go in and see if he could get it straightened out for us. I was feeling like this was our only hope at this point. I was expecting the s...

Say What?: January 2015
http://onekgguy.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
My attempt at journaling. Saturday, January 31, 2015. Part 2 of 3 about my most recent blood clotting ordeal. Go here for part 1. My bubble test was positive for PFO but it shouldn't pose a risk to me now that I'll be anticoagulated the rest of my life. More than anything it's simply important information to have when trying to sort out the puzzle of my clots. In Dr Foley's search for clues about my clotting he turned up the CT-scan taken after my bike crash back in September. And something leapt out at ...

Say What?: May 2015
http://onekgguy.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
My attempt at journaling. Saturday, May 30, 2015. We drove up to Babbitt early Tuesday morning to bring Tammy's mom back with us to live. Her dementia seems to come and go but for the most part she's enjoying her stay. It's a beautiful thing to watch Tammy care for her. She's so sweet even in those moments where her mother isn't very receptive to the attention Tammy is giving her. My thoughts keep returning to the fatbike I talked about in my last post. Rachel has some friends lined up and a 15 foot U-Ha...

Say What?: August 2015
http://onekgguy.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
My attempt at journaling. Monday, August 31, 2015. It's Something When Just A Few Days Ago There Was Nothing. I was invited out to a friend's home in Wisconsin for a get-together Saturday night. Rick lives out in the country just north of Prescott. My Garmin was encouraging me to take the freeway but I opted for a little slower route on roads I bike on. It had been a busy day and I needed this quiet time before arriving at the party. It was encouraging if only that it meant my ear wasn't completely dead.

Say What?: February 2015
http://onekgguy.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
My attempt at journaling. Sunday, February 22, 2015. Go With the Flow Never Let Go. I was sidelined for a couple days this week while I waited for the level of coumadin in my blood to drop to a more normal level. I routinely go in to have my blood tested to make sure I'm getting just the right amount of coumadin (often referred to as blood thinner or rat poison). Video from our drive. I got a text from her this week:. It's a small world. Rachel also works at a long term care facility in Rochester as ...
