Brian Coldrick Illustration: February 2012
http://briancoldrick.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Now I know it's deeply wrong to post something Christmas related in February but at least this has a T-Rex, a werewolf, a zombie and a gorilla. It was Millennium fx's Christmas Card hence the creatures (and the text at the bottom saying Millennium fx). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Kali armed, labyrinthine, over socialised thetans. Happy New Year. It's now February but I'm allowed say that, right? Here's a couple of caricature commissions I did over the Christmas period. Don't usually do this but I had a bit of spare time (or at least I thought I did). First up is a chap named Mario (hence the plumbers pipes and mushroom) and his multiple interests in his multiple arms. Last but not least is a recent favorite of mine. A personal piece which muses what an associate of mine may l...

Following on from a previous illustration job. And here it is with the fancy Paulaner Graphics:. A very different recent piece of work was coming up with some character designs for The Spenglers, a family of giant hairy blue monsters who are currently to be seen promoting Sky Plus. I was one of several artists working on their look, and while the finished characters are a combination of various designs, there's still some of my original messy doodles in there. Evolution of Schoolboy Evolution. I recently worked with the good folks at Atomic. On some illustrations for a poster they were putting together for Lifestyle Sports. It featured a series of Darwinian-like evolutionary steps of a schoolboy as he shed the dull trappings of his uniform and became a summery soul. Here's the first sketch:. Then my first slight change to make him younger:. After which it was decided to go much younger:. Then youngest version as sharp and crispy finished inks:. This blog is fo...

Here are some concept sketches I did for Millennium fx. For things which popped up on recent episodes of Doctor Who. First up is the spoonhead/robot/girl/creature from "The Bells of Saint John". It was supposed to look very functional and not too stylised. The design is pretty much what made it the episode but it only had a very brief full shot onscreen. The Vigil that made it to the screen were from designs by Brooke Dibble, which you can see here. Along with lots of her other great work. I'm a freelanc...

Here are a couple of pics which were both done for talented Irishmen. First up is an ode to the toaster, the murderer of bread, which I did for the inimitable Mr Stephen Kelleher. Next up is a doodle portrait of hirsute Mr Steve McCarthy. Which I did for a surprise exhibition in honour of his birthday organised by the talented Mr Mick Minogue. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Another set of mugshots through the years, like the Christmas present I'd posted before here. This one was a commission and I was working from photos, but they seemed to turn out ok and I quite like the different wallpapers I threw in behind the four stages. And the finishing touch: charity shop frames. This is a stab at an impersonation of Alphonse Mucha,. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
