Extending to nearly 2,500 acres and including the highest cliff on the southern coast, Golden Cap, this is an area of outstanding importance for it's unspoilt landscape and natural history. A Tour of Eype. Ype and the surounding area - particularly Charmouth is very popular with fossil hunters since this stretch, as is typical of the World Heritage Coast is very rich in fossils. Jurassic/Cretaceous - marine environment. 105 - 165 Million Years. High - Including Ammonites, Belemnites, Crinoids and more. Medium - Less than the neighboring Seatown and Charmouth. High - Steep cliffs are liable to collapse, hard hats are highly advised. Hammer and Chisel are needed to split the rocks.
