Wildlife Watching with FAB.: Redwing.
https://fabearlybirder.blogspot.com/2017/03/redwing.html
Tuesday, 7 March 2017. The most abundant thrush seen on my local patch and during my recent farmland survey is the Redwing. A regular winter migrant from Northern Europe. Easy to identify but definitely not the easiest species to get very close to as at the slightest hint of any disturbance they all fly off to the nearest trees. Fortunately I was able to make use of the dense hedgerow and utilize a small gap to hide my presence for these record cropped shots. 7 March 2017 at 20:01. 7 March 2017 at 23:15.

Wildlife Watching with FAB.: No Tail.
https://fabearlybirder.blogspot.com/2015/08/no-tail.html
Tuesday, 4 August 2015. Not a very common sight . a Blackbird. With no tail. I took this photo through my mother's kitchen window about a month ago and today she confirmed that this individual is still visiting her garden. So the lack of tail feathers does not appear to be impeding its survival. All indications are that he is going through his normal post breeding moult but it doesn't explain the total lack of a tail but there is the possibility that one of the local felines might be feeling guilty!
Wildlife Watching with FAB.: The Blackbird.
https://fabearlybirder.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-blackbird.html
Tuesday, 12 May 2015. A true thrush, is one of our commonest garden species. Our resident mature male is easily recognisable in his glossy black coat with orange-yellow bill and eye ring as he regularly uses a high open perch nearby to survey his territory. Whenever I see him I am often reminded of the initial verses of the nursery rhyme:. Sing a song of sixpence a pocket full of rye. Four-and-twenty Blackbirds baked in a pie. When the pie was opened the birds begin to sing. The lark's is a clarion call,.

Feather Brained: Light at the End of the Day
http://susansgonetothebirds.blogspot.com/2013/07/light-at-end-of-day.html
Birds, Bites, Bits and Books. Light at the End of the Day. Busy is more than a state of being, it is an oft' used excuse to not do anything. A bit of a conundrum whereby we can't get to it to do it, and so we often don't get it done. Like me. Writing this blog! Where the whole system begins to. Drive me absolutely insane. Time consuming, but important, background work that is crucial, before actually sharing any of the shots I've taken in order to illustrate a thought, rant, or point of view! As I sorted...
Tony's Photo Blog: Weekend away
http://tcphotosdotnet.blogspot.com/2015/06/weekend-away.html
Tuesday, June 9, 2015. I didn't have far to go to see some birds, with a pair of inquisitive Singing Honeyeaters coming close, closer, and sometimes too close. There was also a regular Nankeen Kestrel hunting between us and the beach. On the boat ramp there were the usual. Pelicans and Silver Gulls, and on the local beach, Pacific G. Ulls and a single Hooded Plover. June 9, 2015 at 10:51 PM. Looks like a great spot to visit for a while. June 10, 2015 at 8:32 PM. August 14, 2015 at 7:56 PM.
Tony's Photo Blog: June 2013
http://tcphotosdotnet.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 29, 2013. This morning dawned bright, but chilly, with the mercury struggling to get above freezing. But Kobe and I still took our usual early morning stroll round the wetlands. The moon has almost waned to third quarter, and it wasn't till I got home that I noticed the Galah sneaking into shot! It was a bit misty, but this didn't bother the ducks, and the heavy dew made for some nice "arty" shots of the reeds and shrubs around Kaurna Wetland Park. Sunday, June 23, 2013. Other common birds...
Tony's Photo Blog: Spring birding
http://tcphotosdotnet.blogspot.com/2014/10/spring-birding.html
Friday, October 24, 2014. I managed to find a couple of hours for a quick trip out today. I birded between St Kilda and Port Gawler, just to the north of Adelaide. It was very quiet to start with, but I did happen on this little story. Once upon a time there were three White-winged Fairy-wrens, Daddy, Mummy and little baby. At Port Gawler things got better as there were a few waders about. Resident Red-kneed Dotterels and a few migrant Sharp-tailed Sandpipers. October 24, 2014 at 7:36 PM. Nice ones, Tony!

Sunday, August 24, 2014. I can't believe its been 4 months since my last post. A combination of ill health, too busy at work and at home, (and the Aussie Rules Football season! Has kept me away from the camera and the binoculars. A little further along the track I stopped for an immature Hooded Robin, and what I think is a juvenile Rufous Whistler (happy to be corrected). Just as unconfiding was a Pallid Cuckoo, about 50 metres was his limit! So this is a highly cropped image). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Tony's Photo Blog: September 2014
http://tcphotosdotnet.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 14, 2014. At the end of last week, I went to Innes National Park as the South-western tip of the Yorke Peninsula. I drove the eastern then southern coastal roads, birding as I went. First stop was Clinton Conservation Park. There were 9 Caspian Terns here, along with a lone Crested Tern, some Little Black Cormorants and about 150 Red-necked Avocets on the pool. A great start! The southern coast is very rugged and ideal for wind farms as it faces the prevailing wind. The birdwatching is ...

The Sand , The Sea . . . and Me: July in May
http://findingfloridaatfifty.blogspot.com/2015/05/july-in-may.html
The Sand , The Sea . . . and Me. A salty journal of sunrises, seashells, and shorebirds. May 15, 2015. The weather has been humid and a little hot, more like June or July than May, here in NE Florida…I've taken to getting up before 6 am to get to the beach just before sunrise, to beat the heat…and the other shell seekers. I've also spent three hours on the beach the past couple visits…amazing how time flies when you're having fun…. 8230;I also find a few scallops and several slippersnails…. The beaches o...

Monday, May 18, 2015. Outer Harbour - Black-faced Cormorant colony. On Sunday, I had the opportunity to join a boat trip out to the Black-faced Cormorant colony on the Outer Harbour breakwater. As we made our way to the boat, there was a lovely Rufous Night-heron, who was quite happy to pose for us. As we rounded the breakwater, we saw a few Cormorants on the water, and one flew in nicely to land in our wake. The chicks were all very well grown, and some looked bigger then the parents! Some great birding...

Carol Mattingly Photography: The Goslings
http://carolmattinglyphotography.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-goslings.html
Friday, May 15, 2015. There were three Goslings out of a family of about six or eight that were sipping the water in Old Hickory Lake a few weeks ago when I took these images. They were so cute as they bent down to drink. And then one looked up at me as I was taking a photo as if to say, hey you looking at me? I couldn't resist sharing these with you. Have a fantastic weekend. ENJOY! May 15, 2015. May 15, 2015. They are so adorable. Sweet captures Carol. May 16, 2015. O wat is dit lief en mooi. Assateagu...

Wildlife Watching with FAB.
Monday, 27 March 2017. A few images of species seen during my winter birding forays. A reflective pair of Mute Swans. On a very cold January day at Frensham Little Pond on the only ice free patch of water. On the same January day a rare inland Surrey sighting was this juvenile Long-tailed Duck. That spent some weeks at Frensham Great and Little Pond. Just taking off. A resident and regular sighting on my local patch. On a sunnier day in January a record shot of a Dartford Warbler. Friday, 24 March 2017.
