Bag Archives - The Finished Garment
http://finishedgarment.ca/tag/bag
A sewing, quilting and stitching blog from Montreal. I have a great diaper bag. The only problem with it is that it is full of diapers. And crayons. And a couple of snacks. And hand sanitizer. And a baby sling. But lately, with my youngest now two years old, I have begun to imagine a magical, mythical future where my bag has things like lipstick (I think I still have some somewhere), money (I wish I still had some) and empty space (I want some! Check out that pattern matching. I used the Two Zip Hipster.

One Last Hurrah for Winter - The Finished Garment
http://finishedgarment.ca/one-last-hurrah-for-winter
A sewing, quilting and stitching blog from Montreal. One Last Hurrah for Winter. Spring has finally spring here in Montreal, so I thought I’d share my last winter sewing project before it’s embarrassingly late. One last pair of PJs before spring. This fabric has been in my stash for ages. I’m really glad to get all that space back. Flannel takes up a lot of room. I sewed little tags in the back to they know how to put them on. Once again I used the Bedtime Story Pajamas sewing pattern by Oliver S. Just t...

What size am I? Rough size equivalents for sewists.
http://finishedgarment.ca/size-rough-size-chart-equivalents-sewists
A sewing, quilting and stitching blog from Montreal. What size am I? Rough size equivalents for sewists. While I was writing up my list of Independent Sewing Patterns for the Plus-Sized Sewist. One of the things I noticed was how different everyone’s sizing system was. And the larger the pattern sizes available, the more the systems varied from pattern maker to pattern maker. Includes lots of sizing systems, but it only goes up to size EUR 46. There is also a cute online clothing size conversion tool.

Sewing for Kids Archives - The Finished Garment
http://finishedgarment.ca/category/sewing-for-kids
A sewing, quilting and stitching blog from Montreal. Category: Sewing for Kids. One of the easiest patterns I know of, that is perfect for beginners, is the Oliver S Lazy Days skirt. It’s a free pattern with no seam finishing – which is my least favourite sewing task. The easiest pattern I’ve ever sewn: the Lazy Days Skirt by Oliver S. I don’t have many construction photos of this skirt because I made this years ago. This is actually the third kid to wear this skirt. Yay, for hand-me-downs! Various cotto...

A sewing, quilting and stitching blog from Montreal. Rawwwr, Rawwwr, Dinosaurs! Nothing says Saint Patrick’s Day like a velociraptor! I wanted to make the kids something green and fun for today. I found some great lime jersey, and figured the Field Trip Raglan T-shirt. Which I’ve used before. Would be a good match for the fabric. Then I spotted these amazing dinosaur iron-on vinyl transfers. On Etsy. They are pretty cool, and fuzzy! Always joking around, these two. Love these iron-on transfers! Shorts on...

A Renfrew in Stripes - The Finished Garment
http://finishedgarment.ca/a-renfrew-in-stripes
A sewing, quilting and stitching blog from Montreal. A Renfrew in Stripes. My latest sewing project is for me! Lately my blog has been full of projects for other people, but I have been sewing for myself as well. The top is really comfy. My latest project is the Renfrew Top. I made this once before. But the results were so-so. You can see from the back how this shirt fits better in the shoulders. I really like the fit. I prefer extra length at the bottom, rather than a band at the waist. I also used bett...
