The various adventures of a reluctant nomad and her two sidekicks. * now with 33.3 % more sidekicks! Tuesday, March 27, 2012. This is the Odalolly Quilt, it was the project I chose for the final project in my Curves Class, I will also be participating in Scrap Attack. Over at Stitched in Color. Through the last few weeks I have slaved away, cutting, ironing, piecing and often, complaining about how much work this quilt was or about a block being just 1/2 an inch shy of wide or long enough (arghh! There i...

The various adventures of a reluctant nomad and her two sidekicks. * now with 33.3 % more sidekicks! Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Precise Curves Take 2. Two nights of mindless garter stitch and I am back on the sewing bandwagon. Today I finished my drunkard's path blocks and a super cape for my super nephew. It fits sort of wonky. Blue, sticking his nose in, as usual. Heck, maybe, if I can get the pattern just right, I'll do my first ever tutorial! Sunday, February 26, 2012. I am making an original Dr....

There are 4 Guu locations in Vancouver; Ian chose the one on Robson and we set out on the bus to get there. Guu is a pub and doesn't take reservations and we had a small wait once we got there so we explored some shops on Robson. Everything but the sashimi came and was all delicious. The oysters were so phenomenal when we reordered our sashimi we ordered more oysters and a ton o...

Since I am an overachiever, I finished the meandering stitches on the centre of the quilt and decided to try pebble quilting one of the borders. I had no idea what pebble quilting was until I discovered http:/ www.handmadebyalissa.com/pebblequilting/. Pebble quilting uses a ton of thread and the thread for this quilt cost more than the fabric!

The Year of the Quilt is off to a great start here in my cold little house. I have completed one quilt and two quilt tops. I am pretty impressed with my pace of work given, that I am also trying to clear out all my pending projects in anticipation of my class starting Feb 1st. Here is D's completed quilt top! Excuse the horrible picture taking.

I forgot how much I love being car-lite. When we lived in Ottawa we were car-free and cycling was our way. I had forgotten how much I loved all things cycling and bikes. since we moved here I have expanded my bike collection and transformed my old commuter into the family machine pictured above. Then there is this. The beige...

Having made it the whole winter without purchasing anything unnecessary. Clothing wise) a trip to The Workshop. After the spree it was time to bid farewell to home (*sob*) and make our way back to Montreal ( hooray. Pack it (vac packing was really Ryan's idea). And it was incredibly. Might have been too spicy for him. Saturda...

I make jewelry and intend to sell it then I look at what I have made and decide it isn't good enough to sell. I also used to buy supplies to manifest my inspiration and either not have time to develop the idea or by the time I do get around to it I am no longer inspired. With all the travel I have been doing I haven't h...
