A Fabric Fixation

Sunday, October 2, 2016. Cats strolling about and a new sewing space. My blogroll is gone, and I can only assume it is a casualty of cats strolling across the keyboard. In more exciting news, we've moved, I have an enormous sewing room (with walk in closet and full bathroom - it used to be an in-law suite) which I will have pictures of soon. While I'm intensely annoyed by the loss of the blog list, I'm also kind of impressed that cat-strolling was able to accomplish it. Saturday, July 9, 2016. The red dr...

A Fabric Fixation: Sewing Autonomous Region

http://fabricfixation.blogspot.com/2015/07/sewing-autonomous-region.html

Monday, July 13, 2015. Alternately known as the Woman Cave, the Sewing Room and MINE. I have my table for my machines, a couch for lounging while I hand-sew, a tv for stories and shelves for all my things. Not pictured, is the door to the back yard where (once tamed) I can take pictures, and not yet hung, is a full length mirror. (I've been without the past year, which has made fitting tricky.). I love to hear from people :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I could really go for some lemon tarts.

A Fabric Fixation: February 2015

http://fabricfixation.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 17, 2015. 30F, -1C a good day for sundresses. Does anyone else find themselves perpetually sewing things wildly out of season? Granted, I currently have five projects ongoing (just counting the ones for me.) (I'm getting really bad about taking pictures. Almost half the things I made last year didn't get blogged - but I should be moving again over the summer, and when I have a better space, I'm hoping to take more pictures.). I'm slowly making my peace with gathered skirts. I've fou...

A Fabric Fixation: Drafting your own half circle skirt pattern. Part Two

http://fabricfixation.blogspot.com/2012/01/drafting-your-own-half-circle-skirt_19.html

Thursday, January 19, 2012. Drafting your own half circle skirt pattern. Part Two. Asked for a bit more on the whole half-circle skirt thing. So, here we go. How much fabric do I need? Well, this depends - since you are drafting your own pattern its really up to you (helpful, no? But the real answer is 2*r2 , i.e. the length of the total distance from the bottom of the skirt to the center of rotation. (If you are confused, please read my previous post. January 20, 2012 at 2:49 AM. I hope you both do!

A Fabric Fixation: Drafting your own half circle skirt pattern. (Math is your friend)

http://fabricfixation.blogspot.com/2012/01/drafting-your-own-half-circle-skirt.html

Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Drafting your own half circle skirt pattern. (Math is your friend). No new sewing for a bit, but I've been planning things out for when I'm back to normal. A few days ago I came upon Vivat-Veritas. Half circle skirt pattern. From the Grosgrain free pattern month. It was lovely, very simple, and solved a problem I've been having about a lovely but tricky print. 2) Divide WL by 2, for the quarter arc length in the image above. (Why divide by two for a quarter arc? 6) Pin a meas...

A Fabric Fixation: March 2015

http://fabricfixation.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 27, 2015. Popping up to say hello. A combination of winter and the flu killed my sewing mojo for a while there. I'm easing back in with baby-blanket for a friend of mine. Until I get myself sorted out, here is a large cat-beast. Someday soon I'll also get pictures off all the things I made over the winter and didn't photograph, because it was too cold to go outside without 17 layers. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I could really go for some lemon tarts. View my complete profile. New Pattern: Z...

September 19, 2015 · 8:43 pm. This weekend is the local comics convention. Joker, Elf, half-ass-Ninja-Turtle, and Wendy Marvell. Tyo went as a generic elf (it was that or wear the Batgirl costume I made her last Hallowe’en), in a couple of my costume/dance pieces that she tried on in a fit of playing dress-up one night, and totally rocked. Moms out there, you know: that moment when your daughter steals your clothes and looks way better in them… yeah. I still love her. Mostly. Still life with rat. But a) ...

Newer posts →. July 19, 2016 · 8:30 am. God this fabric is gorgeous. The composition tag says “linen and rayon”—I’m thinking it’s rayon embroidery on linen background. Sometimes a project is just fun to do. Not perfect, by any means, not at all flawless—but man it felt great. I found the finished sizing measurements a bit confusing. The size 10 was listed as having a 36″ bust and 23″ waist. Does this include lacing gap? How much of one? By some miracle the size of underwire I prefer also fitted the cups ...

You've got wonderful bones, great eyes, and you dress really interestingly. A Bird Under the Wire. April 30, 2015. It started with a beautiful piece of fabric, generously donated by the prttynpnk one and creatively named the Blue Cranes of Doom. See what Anne did with it at http:/ prttynpnk.com/2014/04/17/blue-cranes-of-doom-x2/. I didn’t quite know how to do this preciousness justice, until the April challenge over at The Monthly Stitch. Put A Bird On It? Don’t mind if I do. Happy Stitching and MMM-ing.

Way jumping the gun here, but wanted to share a fun WIP that I’m trying to finish before the Monthly Stitch “Put A Bird On It” month ends. I’m mostly posting this to show Anne because it’s such a fun piece of fabric which she bestowed upon me. Anne’s brilliance is at www.prttynpnk.com by the way. Hope this inspires or otherwise entertains someone today. 4 responses ». April 27, 2015 at 1:51 am.

You've got wonderful bones, great eyes, and you dress really interestingly. February 17, 2015. Trying something a little different and going the microblogging route, since I have so little to bring to the table in terms of sewing technique. I learned that word “microblog” when I decided to Google what the heck Tumblr is. I still don’t know, even though I have a Tumblr account. I finished off the ensemble with some killer Naughty Monkey shoes and my favorite new socks. And beads of course. I love it baby!

A problem we can all handle–I hope. | Cuckoo Chanel

https://cuckoochanel.wordpress.com/2015/02/19/a-problem-we-can-all-handle-i-hope

You've got wonderful bones, great eyes, and you dress really interestingly. A problem we can all handle–I hope. February 19, 2015. After several hours of organizing fabric, patterns, and other notions, and making almost zero progress, I spotted this on the I Love Sewing. Thanks, I Love Sewing, for feeling my pain and helping me feel less alone. That is all. Anyone out there have a similar experience lately? Anyone need a pep talk? I’m feeling peppier by the day.
