Thoughts from a knucklehead preacher. Thursday, July 24, 2008. Seeing Big Papi ground into a double play: priceless. Two tickets to the Portland Seadogs on ebay: 150 dollars. Sitting in the rain for two hours waiting for the game to start: 0 dollars. Seeing Big Papi get walked the first time up and ground into a double play the second time at Hadlock Field: priceless. Posted by # 9. Tuesday, July 22, 2008. Coming out of retirement. There is no way I am going to go to that game without my hat on! That's r...
faded cap: How should today’s Church use the principals and patterns found in Acts?
http://fadedcap.blogspot.com/2010/01/how-should-todays-church-use-principals.html
Thoughts from a knucklehead preacher. Friday, January 15, 2010. How should today’s Church use the principals and patterns found in Acts? The bottom line is that the patterns found in the book of Acts suggest a more locally based, more personal, more outwardly focused Church than the modern American church is leaning towards. Thoughts from a knucklehead preacher. Tuesday, October 21, 2008. Well, I don't know how you all feel about Jack-O-Lanterns, but we carved some and it was a lot of fun! I don't think they will be worth much for scaring off evil spirits from Steve and Shawnna's porch, but we had a blast making them. We went to "Pumpkin Land" in Poland on Sunday with the gang and picked out some great pumpkins. Scotty and Ash had to buy their pumpkins at Wal-Mart. All in all we had nine Jack-O-Lanterns! Thoughts from a knucklehead preacher. Friday, January 22, 2010. Centrality of the local church in “missions” and the Pauline strategy. Acts 2.2; 3.1. David Hasselgrave, in his book Planting Churches Cross Culturally: North America and Beyond, gives us a terrific definition of “missions,” the mission of the church. Posted by # 9. Thoughts from a knucklehead preacher. Wednesday, September 17, 2008. I am finally taking a vacation. Just me. I'm not going far, or really anywhere at all. In my mind vacation is when you get to do whatever you want whenever you want to do it even if it is "work related." If I do a "work related" thing on vacation it is because I want to do it and no other reason. So here is how my vacation has broken down so far:. Day one - Monday. Day two - Tuesday. Day three - Wednesday. I am hoping to get some real.

BrownJELO: Home School Week 10
http://brownjelo.blogspot.com/2014/02/home-school-week-10.html
Thursday, February 13, 2014. Home School Week 10. I feel like this is very boring and repetitive:) At least, it is to write it out! Today is only Thursday, but the other kids have a day off from school tomorrow and we have a couple of parent/teacher conferences and Jessalyn has an AAU game, so I tricked Luke into doubling today! Continuing to read through Luke. This week was Luke 19:28-21:38. He read in his Bible each morning. We learned about the Natchez tribe in the American Indian Prayer Guide. We fin...

Friday, May 4, 2012. Josh has been attending a campground since he was a kid. The people there are like family as his family has gone at least one time each summer since he can remember. His parents inherited a cottage on the campground years ago. I went along with his family to this campground every year since 1992 (or maybe 91? In the past we have gone and stayed at Josh's parents cottage but as our family grew we quickly OUT grew their cottage. We soon moved to sleeping in a tent which was easier ...

Friday, December 27, 2013. It's now two days after Christmas and I am just now getting to blogging about our week of school before vacation started. Soonto the recap of the week. Bible: Luke has continued reading in his Bible and I have continued reading to him from Luke (NSV).Luke 5-6:49. He has also been learning abo...Histo...

Thursday, July 26, 2012. We are nearing the end of our stay here at camp.of course, until we come back in August for Family Camp! It's hard to believe that it has only been 3 weeks. It seems like we've been here forever. The time here has been awesome. The weather has been perfect. We've only seen small amounts of rain and this has usually been in the night. Today is the first day of rain in the forecast and the first day that I've had to pull out the jeans and sweatshirt! I feel like I haven't been to c...

Friday, June 29, 2012. So, I think I've come to the conclusion that I will not completely give up facebook for the summer but really focus on sharing pics on the blog.which is actually more time consuming in the long run, but yet a better way to journal along side of them. Of course, this will likely mean a picture overload here on my blog:). This camp is growing by leaps and bounds.and I'm not talking about the campers! In the meantime.here's a little glimpse of the last couple of days. Truett was sleep...
BrownJELO: Home school week 5 and 6...and lessons learned:)
http://brownjelo.blogspot.com/2014/01/home-school-week-5-and-6and-lessons.html
Monday, January 27, 2014. Home school week 5 and 6.and lessons learned:). I mentioned last week that since we had a few weeks under our belt, that we would start to double up on everything in hopes to finish the curriculum. We don't "need" to finish it, because he DID do the first several weeks at public school, so he will have done the required amount of schooling by May/June, but I really didn't want to waste the curriculum that we invested in. It became clear very quickly that it just wasn't worth it&...

Sunday, December 16, 2012. Grieving from a distance. The following post is nothing more than a rambling of the thoughts that having been rolling around in my mind as I try to decipher my own emotions in the midst of such a tragic event.). http://brownjelo.blogspot.com/2014/02/home-school-week-9.html
Thursday, February 13, 2014. Home School Week 9. Yet another week has flown by and Luke and I seem to be settling into a nice little routine of things. He is happy.I am happy:) It's all good! I read Luke17:1-19:27 to him throughout the week. He read each day in his Adventure Bible. He learned about the Lumbee Tribe in the American Inidan Prayer Guide. He memorized Romans 12:15 and 16. We had lots of opportunity to discuss how this applies to us on a daily basis! We read 4 chapters of The Tree in the Trail.

Thoughts from a knucklehead preacher. Sunday, February 7, 2010. The Normative Elements of Paul’s Strategy. The four core elements of Paul’s strategy I believe are a normative and helpful pattern that can be followed even today. If normative element or pattern can be understood as an element or pattern that can and should be followed regardless of time or place then the question of “can this pattern be followed? 8221; must be asked of each of these four core elements. Yes We are built to live in community...
