My own Fairweathers came from Scotland to New Zealand on the Lady Nugent, leaving Gravesend in England in October 1840 and arriving in Petone on March 17, 1841. They were Wesleyan Methodists who settled in Wainuiomata. Within 10 years, both parents had died and their seven children moved to many areas of the North and South Islands.
