Finally, Finally FINAL! I seem to have taken a bit of an unintended blogging hiatus. It’s been a busy, eventful summer. I’ll get back to blogging soon. In fact, I already have a few posts started in a notebook. In the meantime, it’s time to announce the most exciting and wonderful news of the summer:. No trading us in.

September 26, 2012. September 26 was the day that did not end. It just kept going, and going, and going, like the Energizer Bunny. We had another 6:30 flight out of Manila back to New York, resulting in a 2:00 am wake up call. If everything worked right, he would stay asleep. It was, after all, 2:00 in the morning.

September 14, 2012. We arrived in the Philippines very early in the morning on September 14 – something like 3:00 am. Maybe it was because of the insanely early hour, but for some reason, navigating the Manila airport and collecting all of our luggage was nowhere near the difficult experience I expected it might be.

September 19, 2012. I think it was the goat that tipped the balance and made me realize that our fairly easy ride with Francis was just about over. But the goat came much later in the day. Legazpi is home to the beautiful Mayon volcano, and this provides many interesting things to see and do in the area near our hotel.

He submitted his first essay for his first grad class this morning. He laughed as he told me it didn’t feel real, because the last time he turned in a paper, it was on actual paper. Many years ago.
