f a i t h * i n * f i c t i o n: Status and Tension

http://faithinfiction.blogspot.com/2005/11/status-and-tension.html

Monday, November 28, 2005. It’s been hit-or-miss around here, hasn’t it? I didn’t even manage to post a Thanksgiving message before bolting for the holidays. For that I’m sorry. I suspect you were all able to endure the holiday just fine without a short post from me listing all the things for which I’m thankful or making a lame joke about tryptophan. We’re in a bit of short story purgatory here. Still waiting on a few things and then we’ll begin looking at the actual stories themselves. Mick Silva is cur...

http://faithinfiction.blogspot.com/2007/12/year-end-favorites_12.html

Wednesday, December 12, 2007. These aren't the best of the year. Just some of the best of what I took in. Then We Came to the End. The Raw Shark Texts. By Richard Russo - No, it wasn't his best, but I always love losing myself in his worlds. The only other movie we saw in the theater was Stardust. And the book was just so much better. And Life in the Undergrowth. So You Think You Can Dance. Is decent. And he's still incredible live. Arcade Fire's Neon Bible. Came close to Funeral. To discover compelling ...

Monday, March 10, 2008. Posted by David at 3:12:00 PM. Talk More at the Discussion Board. To discover compelling voices in Christian fiction. And, hopefully, to publish them. To further the conversation on faith and fiction. Because we need voices outside the chorus to reach the many who've tuned us out. My name is Dave. I am a fiction acquisitions editor at this publishing house. Come join the conversation. A deeper, topical look at the nuts and bolts of writing. 4 Days on Dense Writing. Writing to a Ne...

f a i t h * i n * f i c t i o n: Series vs. Stand-Alone: Part I

http://faithinfiction.blogspot.com/2006/06/series-vs-stand-alone-part-i.html

Friday, June 09, 2006. Series vs. Stand-Alone: Part I. Here's a random stab at something. (Based on my own experiences and what I see from others.). I did this with Ezekiel's Shadow. I had pretty grand intentions to write (linked) novels based around each of the characters from the writer's group. And I see many, many, many proposals in which there's a paragraph explaining books 2 and 3 that will follow. (Or sometimes, to my dismay, books 2 through 15.). If you only read Relentless. Next week we'll spend...

f a i t h * i n * f i c t i o n: Establishing a Career as a Writer: Part I

http://faithinfiction.blogspot.com/2006/03/establishing-career-as-writer-part-i.html

Thursday, March 09, 2006. Establishing a Career as a Writer: Part I. I am back. Hopefully you are, too. Also, when I talk about a career as a writer, I’m talking about giving yourself the opportunity to successfully publish books. I am not necessarily talking about becoming Tom Clancy or even reaching success that means you will only write novels. Most authors have a secondary source of income teaching, writing articles, or (gasp! My first piece of advice today is: Complete your first novel. Finishing a ...

Christian Novels: Gone Without a Trace by Patricia Bradley

http://writingchristiannovels.blogspot.com/2015/07/gone-without-trace-by-patricia-bradley.html

Then this is the blog for you! Abbi Hart, sister of blog founder Katie Hart, discusses all aspects of Christian novels. Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Gone Without a Trace by Patricia Bradley. Award-winning author Patricia Bradley keeps readers on the edge of their seats as they anticipate the outcome of the case- and the relationship between Livy and Alex- which is anything but certain. There were a couple instances where the characters would explain why doing something a certain way wouldn't work and they'd...

Life is never what you thought it'd be. Saturday, July 29, 2006. Irritating Fictional Artists I Love. I've been recommending The Horse's Mouth. To a certain somebody. For a couple of months. Right now she's reading Chesterton's take on artists. I should read Chesterton, too, but the regional. Library near my home hasn't any Chesterton on its fiction shelves. (It's a lovely building, but it's collection is ever so lame, and I haven't the brain cells to properly lament what that means just now.). This past...

Abundant Blessings in Review. Sunday, March 25, 2007. A Valley of Betrayal- A Review. History. The word brings about strong feelings you either love it or hate it. What I’ve learned though is that most people who claim to hate it usually had a teacher who focused on dates and names and forgot that history is full of people, personalities, and amazing grace. Hasn’t forgotten that. And she proves it again with her latest book A Valley of Betrayal. As I read A Valley of Betrayal. However, Tricia uniquely wr...

Abundant Blessings in Review. Saturday, August 12, 2006. I love history. I have since I was little and my dad would tell me stories about when he was in World War II. Of course, he was careful about sharing things a child shouldn’t know. Was careful, too. She skillfully shared a part of the war that, to my knowledge, hasn’t been widely known. Without overly graphic intent, she opened my eyes to the horrors, the truth and bravery of my parents’ generation. And she did it well. Posted by Jenny @ 4:54 PM.

http://jlcary.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 28, 2007. To All the Dogs I've Loved Before. I'm a dog lover. Okay, so I like cats, too, but, for their own safety, I do not own any while I live in the same house with my husband. (Don't boo and hiss- he has to have at least one flaw! Does He stroke my head like I did Pugsley's that day? Since then I've looked differently at my canine friends and I've received a few life lessons in the process. Jack could just tell when I was sad and liked to rest next to me. KD was sure she she was human.

Monday, September 15, 2008. Interview with Michelle Sutton. I first met Michelle Sutton. In person when I picked her up at a mall. Okay, so there’s more to the story and to be honest, we’d seen each other before, but not had as much time to talk as we did that day when we left Metro Center and drove to our CWOW. Is now available. So, I thought you might like to get a taste of what this busy gal is like. Please welcome, Michelle Sutton! AB: Hey, Michelle! How did you get started? MS: I hooked up with my p...

Navigating IF through faith in God's plan. CD53 for the win! February 21, 2015. Just thought I should write real quick in case any of you were wondering how this week went. I’ve had a couple people ask for an update, so here goes:. If you remember, last time I wrote, if I didn’t start CD1 by Monday I was going to have to call the doctor and make another appointment to figure out our options… more meds or surgery to get rid of the cyst. Thursday, July 30, 2015. Heeey, really sorry for not posting anything this past few days. I know I have a pledge to keep, so I'll keep it now. Ten days later. Still a good pledge though. So, number three on the pledge, a favourite of mine: Minority Report. I never wrote about this movie before and I don't really know why, because it's pretty amazing.
