Our Family's Journey Together.Through Life and Down syndrome. Monday, January 14, 2013. I think I need to take an extended weekend, mini-vacation a couple of times a year. My time away these past few days has been just what the doctor ordered. Blissful peace and quiet. Hot meals that were cooked for me, with no clean up involved. Sleeping in until 9am. Not that I remember any of it. I don't remember anything until about 4am when I decided I was going to hop out of bed and take a shower. Needless to say, the shower NEVER happened, not until I came home. And my husband, play with my cats, work on house projects, think of creative ways to teach my students, and enjoy watching nature.

Something that I didn't focus on: the lack of enjoyment on each long run, and many shorter ones. Something has definately changed. I use to long to go for a run, and my favorite runs each week were the ones over 2 hours. Not so much now. This time around, I dreaded it. Each run came and went and the feelings didn't really change. I hoped that it would. As stated by my friend Lori. So true.

I finally received the big news today.I have officially been given the title: Distinguished Teacher. It is quite the process, but one I am pleased I went through. I was offered the opportunity last year, and decided to wait one more year. I have only been teaching 3 years (finishing my 3rd year), so I feel very honored! Life has been hectic and crazy and everything that describes hectic and crazy. School has been totally overwhelming this year with the expectations wearing me down. I can't keep up with the blogging, and for that I apologize. Plus, nothing has been very exciting until now. Now if things could slow down a little at school, I would have some time to enjoy all of this.

Livin' and Lovin' in SOUTH Carolina. Poor Jacob, although - I guess not really. His hip dysplasia is getting worse so we are trying something called a stander which makes him stand with his hips properly aligned for a lengthy period of time. We usually put a movie on but funny thing is, he LOVES IT! He actually asks for it. "Can I have the box, Mom? We've had SO MUCH fun! Playground in East Hanover. Look at these two. they truly love eachother, even if they do fight all the time! Frozen toys from Santa!

Livin' and Lovin' in SOUTH Carolina. Aiden loves playing with his firestation toy at home and has been wanting to see a real firestation and where the fireman live. Soooo, I took him! He was in awe! The men were so nice to him, showed him everything including their living room, kitchen, fire truck, ladder and even put the sirens on for him!
