Border Studies Program Spring 2013. Monday, April 1, 2013. Our Relationship to the Land. La Florida, Santa Anita, and San Carlampio may have vastly different experiences and visions for the future, but I am still in awe of these three communities' power and strength in owning their own land, dictating their working conditions, living communally, and resisting the power of neoliberalism. Border Studies Program Spring 2013: From the Concrete Jungle to Desert Life
http://spring2013borderstudies.blogspot.com/2013/04/from-concrete-jungle-to-desert-life.html
Border Studies Program Spring 2013. Monday, April 1, 2013. From the Concrete Jungle to Desert Life. When I first heard that I would spend a semester in the desert I pictured vast open land with a few cacti along with perhaps some tumbleweeds mysteriously blowing through with the wind. Honestly, as a Queens girl, that is all I had seen on TV about the desert. And since staying in Tucson for a couple of weeks I realized that my conception of this desert had been completely wrong. To me, the desert is life.

Border Studies Program Spring 2013. Monday, April 1, 2013. Something I am For. 8220;So often we know exactly what we are against. But how often do we actually know what we are for? Border Studies Program Spring 2013. Tuesday, April 16, 2013. A Moral or a Human Law? Should There be a Difference? Today, we walked to a human rights organization in downtown Tucson that advocates for border and immigrant communities. Their Policy Director is a Tohono O´odham and activist who advocates that everyone can contribute to ending human suffering on the border. If people know that others are dying in their backyard, they have a moral obligation to prevent these deaths. He called this moral hypo...
