Falling for God @ 9.8 m/s^2: March 2013

Falling for God @ 9.8 m/s 2. A physics teacher's attempt to write more than lesson plans. Monday, March 25, 2013. For the Love of Small Towns. I always wanted to live in a small town, but in the country, but with a bigger city that has community and good Asian food. This combination didn't seem likely, but as it turns out, I got just what I wanted. Small towns consistently make great storytellers. While not a great storyteller, I'm able to identify one from a mile away. Janna's. Dan, is from a small.

Falling for God @ 9.8 m/s 2. A physics teacher's attempt to write more than lesson plans. Thursday, May 2, 2013. Things to Do Before 9am. I have never been been a bright-eyed morning person. (All roommates and family members say, "Amen.") It matters not what time I went to bed, the amount of coffee poured down my throat, or threat of getting fired from a job, it has always been difficult to wake up in the morning. Until lately. High-five self for being awake and productive. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Falling for God @ 9.8 m/s 2. A physics teacher's attempt to write more than lesson plans. Thursday, October 24, 2013. The Things We Hold On To. It's really an ugly shirt. I don't remember it looking ugly when he wore it, but it was. What will I hold on to of Grandma's? Some friends recently lost their daughter, an unbelievable and utterly heartbreaking thing to live through. What could they possibly not want to hold on to? How do you decide? Will it be pieces of hay that I weekly find stuck in my hair?

Falling for God @ 9.8 m/s 2. A physics teacher's attempt to write more than lesson plans. Wednesday, April 23, 2014. There is a lot more to this photo than I would have expected. It was taken with my phone as I jogged down the driveway and wiggled off my work gloves (in-laws are coming home tomorrow and it would be nice to appear to have done something. Do you see what I'm doing? And of course, my answer is yes. I love you so much I will touch meat with my bare hands for you, kid. View my complete profile.

Falling for God @ 9.8 m/s 2. A physics teacher's attempt to write more than lesson plans. Friday, July 26, 2013. The barn smells of sweet thick hay these days. Mixed with the distinctive smell of horses, it reminds me of my Grandma Virginia. Since her passing earlier this month, it seems my senses have been turned on high and I can't touch a horse without thinking of her. "Oh I love the smell of horses," she'd say. "I had a pony; did I ever tell you that? I am proud to be a granddaughter of Mary Virginia...

Diving Headfirst: October 2012
http://lifeontheothersideotheworld.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Seizing every opportunity to explore, learn, and love. Saturday, October 13, 2012. Transitions. They can be exciting. They can be adventurous. And yet, they can be really challenging. For all their hype, the thesis of this post (can you tell I'm back to student mode): transitions suck. Looking back, each major transition I have made has been accompanied by a period of grieving, second-guessing, and loneliness. I shouldn't be surprised. It is a natural part of the transition process. I'm reviving the blog...

Diving Headfirst: Johannesburg Update
http://lifeontheothersideotheworld.blogspot.com/2015/02/johannesburg-update.html
Seizing every opportunity to explore, learn, and love. Monday, February 2, 2015. When I first arrive at a field site and tell people I’ll be there for about two months, it always sounds like such a long time. But somehow I blink- and I’ve already been in South Africa nearly a month! And the students have made me feel very welcome as well. Johnannesburg is quite an easy place to live (albeit a bit gated-suburbia and far too racially segregated for my taste). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Seizing every opportunity to explore, learn, and love. Tuesday, October 28, 2014. I never cease to be amazed by people's ingenuity and creative problem solving. On our drives, cheetahs and rhinos sadly remained elusive. But at least we had some incredible lion viewings! All my favorite photos from the trip involve these giant cats. All in all, a lovely way to finish of the holidays indeed. Monday, October 20, 2014. How to become a top-25 triathlon finisher, in 12 easy steps. 6 The day prior to the race, ...

Diving Headfirst: Where in the world is Sarah?
http://lifeontheothersideotheworld.blogspot.com/2015/01/where-in-world-is-sarah.html
Seizing every opportunity to explore, learn, and love. Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Where in the world is Sarah? Bed #17: We returned to our rooftop camping for Christmas in the Namib. On Christmas morning we hiked one of the largest sand dunes in the world, Sussevlei. Then we lounged under a tree until we went to the campsite’s restaurant for a buffet dinner (thanks, Lauren, for the great gift! I was happy to be able to chat with family, who managed to call my Namibian cell on Skype. Bed#22: As Lauren le...

through the curious eye of a laughing heart: Verisimiltude

Saturday, March 22, 2008. Is something of an autoethnographic work. Wow, man, that's so. artful. Is a much more probable comment from me while staring at an installation of fluorescent lights above a baby cradle decoupaged in magazine clippings of waif models than " Wow, man, that's so.true! Emilia's España Aventura: December 2009
http://enelsonkoreanadventure.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 7, 2009. A few weeks ago I took a bus/boat/van trip with my Bible study group to a Korean island called Ulleungdo. The group wanted to get away for some much needed down time, so we decided to head to an island that harvests eighty percent of Korea's squid. It's a random place to go for rest and relaxation, but it turned out to be the perfect spot. Everyone was so cold that we all fell asleep by eight o'clock. EIGHT O'CLOCK ON A SATURDAY NIGHT! Who said teachers weren't exciting?

Emilia's España Aventura: November 2009
http://enelsonkoreanadventure.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 5, 2009. I think I look a little bit like Lloyd when I drive my scooter. That's right; I am now the proud owner of a scooter! I've been contemplating buying one for months, but impulsively purchased one three weeks ago. It's been exhilarating (carefully! Whipping through the streets and alleyways of my dong (neighborhood). And yes, I wear a helmet every time I ride. She's not fast, but she's my 250,000 won bundle of joy. Any suggestions for names? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

http://enelsonkoreanadventure.blogspot.com/2010/09/espana-principiossort-of.html
Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Espana principios.sort of. That's right. I'm back. It's been too long, but I'm back. Here's the skinny on my new life in Spain: I like my roommates, my new job, and the crazy city of Madrid. I'm still adjusting to the differences between Eastern and Western culture and not being the minority for once, and I still miss Korea quite a bit, but time is always the best medicine. Here's a quick peek at my new life. In front of the palace. Plaza Mayor at sunset.

If it's food, then we are freaks! Low fat, low calorie chocolate chip cookies. Falling For Grace
This is one of those opportunities where you are seeing something that's really kinda wonderful! Do what you can to encourage people to see this, and to recognize that filmmakers and actors and all kinds of folks come in different complexions - and the complexion of the filmmaker does not denote whether the film is good or not, the film denotes whether it's good or not. People who see this love it, so that means people get it!
