Family Flying: February 2014
https://family-flying.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
General Aviation Trips and Vacations for the Private Pilot. Sunday, February 2, 2014. Wow, 6 Years Ago We Became Airplane Owners! It's hard to believe that we have been airplane owners for six years now. When we bought our Piper Arrow, N7627D, I was a VFR only rated pilot with about 200 hours total flight time. Since then, I have attained my Instrument Rating, we have moved up to a Piper Lance, and I am about to cross 700 hours total time! Posted by Geoff Nelson. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). DUATcom (chec...

General Aviation Trips and Vacations for the Private Pilot. Tuesday, September 23, 2014. A little of this and a little of that. It has been too long since I made any update to this blog and unfortunately even longer since we have made a trip anywhere. That's not to say I haven't been flying! I tried it when I first bought it, but no joy. During the annual I stopped by the shop after they did the gear swing checks and they told me everything was good including the automatic system. It is? Came in to get a...

General Aviation Trips and Vacations for the Private Pilot. Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Flying The Famous Abby Nelson! Well she is to us anyway; famous. My oldest daughter, Abby, has been dancing for quite a few years now and last fall she auditioned to be a company member for the new national dance expo called Dance League USA. At the ripe old age of 10 she made it! As anyone that flies these parts knows, heading west during the winter will almost certainly treat you with a headwind. So I abandoned...

General Aviation Trips and Vacations for the Private Pilot. Thursday, October 17, 2013. Testing Out The GoPro Mounted Externally. So I finally figured out an external mounting location to try on the plane. I put it together and tried it out yesterday. For the most part I think it worked fine. The good part was I did not lose the camera! I am going to the Bahamas Habitat Fly In and Help Out Event. Next week, so I cant wait to see what kind of videos I get while in the Islands! Family Flying: November 2014

General Aviation Trips and Vacations for the Private Pilot. Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Museum of Aviation at Robins AFB, GA. I was lucky enough to have this year's Veterans Day off so Kevin (my friend and pastor) and I made a day trip to Macon, GA. I found the Museum of Aviation. The museum also has a cafe, but it was unfortunately closed for our visit due to the holiday. That didn't make sense, but oh well. That 12,000 foot runway is huge! Anyway, we started our perusing in the main building where we...

TJ's Flying Adventures: Bucket List
http://www.tjflyingadventures.com/p/50-state-quest.html
I am a firm believer in setting goals and tracking progress towards them. In fact, I think every pilot should have a bucket list. Here is mine:. Personally land in all 50 states. When I started flying, I casually thought about flying to lots of different places. Then in 2010, I decided it was time to start getting serious about it. I set a goal of personally landing in all 50 states. While I thought it would take me over 5 years, in reality it ended up being less than 2 years! But I am certainly NOT done.
TJ's Flying Adventures: Planing for a First Attempt at Skywriting
http://www.tjflyingadventures.com/2010/12/planing-for-first-attempt-at-skywriting.html
Thursday, December 16, 2010. Planing for a First Attempt at Skywriting. After reading several of Steve Dilullo's. Posts, I feel inspired to try something a bit different this weekend. His post about ribbon cutting. Has quite cool. But I fly a Cirrus and I can't "just open the window" to try ribbon cutting. However, his post about skywriting. Really got me thinking. I wanted to give skywriting a try and see just how hard it really was. I will probably try all three plans and check out the results. How...

Saturday, May 11, 2013. Formation Training video Part 2. I finally found time to finish the part 2 video on the Formation Flight Training. Actually, I was on a Newark to Hong Kong flight that was 15.5 hours and I had already finished my email dinner a movie and still wasn't sleepy. So I finished this video . Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed taking the actual flight training:. Posted by TJ Shembekar. Sunday, May 5, 2013. By staying below the clouds at least we didn't have the sun in our eyes! NELSON FAMILY: November 2009
http://4nelsons.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 22, 2009. Fun), then a movie night and some snuggle time in bed with mom. It really doesn't get much better than that! He can usually be found with his nose in a book, and sometimes even with his feet kicked up over the back of the couch. He knows how to kick back with the best of 'em. And have I ever mentioned that he's a great big brother? These two love Star Wars. All their figures are set up on the coffee table and ready to conquer the living room galaxy. Gotta love the "Weebok" shoes.
NELSON FAMILY: September 2012
http://4nelsons.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 18, 2012. Happy Valentine's Day 2012. Here is our "heart-attacked" kitchen. I love the hearts from this past Valentine because Tyler was in Kindergarten, and they were the first ones he wrote on his own. This one makes me especially happy. :-). It's fun to watch Jayden's messages get more personal each year as he gets older and learns to write better. I love how Jayden loves Chase for being willing to play what he wants to play. :-). Chasey's note to Tyler. Very decorative. We all just...

Tuesday, August 9, 2011. An extra little treat from summer. I love this video of the boys at the waterpark. Sunday, August 7, 2011. Well, summer vacation kicked off with a last day of preschool here at our house. I had to get some pictures of these three sweet boys before they all finished pre-K and got ready to start school. Linden striking a pose. Tyler flashing a smile. Oh, and Chasers had to get his picture time in too. Carter excited to start summer. Summer vacation treats to celebrate. Danielle and...

Monday, June 10, 2013. Through the Delta and On to Victoria Falls. We have now left the Okavanga Delta. But not before a rather incredible stay at the Shinde Lodge. This lodge is run by the Ker and Downey Group, which is a very large safari tour operator in Botswana. It is a an amazing five star lodge that is right in the middle of the delta. We landed on their private dirt runway, which you can see below:. I took over 300 pictures and couldn't stop shooting. Here are a couple of my favorites:. We have h...

Despite the success of the airlines, the public demand for a near perfect safety record stands as evidence that the evolutionary resistance to flight is still strong . In addition to this basic resistance, the potential customer for personal air travel must also envision flying themselves. Can any of this really occur or is light plane travel stuck in its role as an expensive novelty? I offer two grains of optimism :. More recently,...

We had a great time in and around the Black Hills, but all the dreaming and planning was for this day. We're flying through the Rocky Mountains to visit Y ellowstone National Park.
