Family, Faith, and Food

Family, Faith, and Food. A mom's quest for physical and spiritual health. Monday, September 22, 2014. Better Saved Than Sorry. Better safe than sorry.". We've all heard (and probably said) those words on numerous occasions. I am a mom, and I am an extremely cautious, worst-case-scenario person in general, so I strongly and regularly encourage safety at our home. Don't walk outside without your shoes on - you might step on something! Be careful standing on that chair - I'm afraid you might fall! It is won...

Family, Faith, and Food: February 2012

http://www.familyfaithandfood.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Family, Faith, and Food. A mom's quest for physical and spiritual health. Monday, February 13, 2012. There is a grocery store near us that has bananas for 25 cents a pound on Thursdays. This is a steal compared to the 54 cents I have been paying recently! As smoothie enthusiasts, we consume a lot of bananas in a given week, so we are always looking for good deals! Since bananas freeze well, I just grabbed ALL of the clearanced bananas. (Our total purchase weighed in at about 34 pounds! Rachel's Better-fo...

Family, Faith, and Food. A mom's quest for physical and spiritual health. Wednesday, November 13, 2013. GPS: God's Providence is Sure. Everything was loaded in the car and ready for our long journey to a warmer climate. As Northerners, there is only one place to go on a Winter vacation - anywhere South! Strayed from the original path. (She even tells us, in a Jamaican accent nonetheless, that we are geniuses! It always makes me a little nervous when I just go, without planning the route. I am quite a...

Family, Faith, and Food: November 2011

http://www.familyfaithandfood.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Family, Faith, and Food. A mom's quest for physical and spiritual health. Wednesday, November 2, 2011. Pray continually. I Thessalonians 5:15. I have always wanted to be a prayer warrior. Oh, how I have dreamed about praying in such a way that I could move mountains (Matthew 17:20)! Have you ever felt this way? Every time I would pray, I would get distracted. Something else would catch my attention. (Maybe it was the enemy trying to hinder my prayers? Shortly after my daughter was born, I began reading a...

Family, Faith, and Food: August 2012

http://www.familyfaithandfood.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Family, Faith, and Food. A mom's quest for physical and spiritual health. Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Healthy(er) Rice Krispy Treats. I love sweets. I don't keep many desserts in our house or make them very often because I want to keep our family healthy, but I am always up for a good revision on a classic dessert recipe to make it a little less bad-for-us. So here's one of my new favorites, and it's super easy! 7 cups crispy rice cereal (off brand is fine). 1 cup peanut butter (or other nut butter).

You’re at the best WordPress.com site ever. Writing My Way Through Life. I was scavenging through my daughter’s closet in preparation for our spring garage sale. I came across a wad of necklaces that she had thrown into a small jewelry case. The strands, some gold, some silver, some real, some fake, were weaved and knotted together in a tight little orb. I let out a loud sigh as I held the mass of bling in my hand. I took the wadded mess downstairs, made a cup of coffee and sat down to work on the task a...
