A Grammar Rule I Didn't Know | A Cup of Jo

A Grammar Rule I Didn’t Know. Over the years, I’ve tried to pick up most grammar rules (who vs. whom, further vs. farther), but the other day, I heard a basic grammar rule that was new to me…. What’s the difference between which. For example, if you’re looking at a dessert menu, would you ask your friend:. A) “What dessert are you going to order? B) “Which dessert are you going to order? The correct answer is…. Here’s the rule:. 8221; “Which seat did you choose in the car? So: Did you know it? Two bigges...

Bri Halbert Alina Boyko. Hair and Make Up. Via Rent the Runway. Few things tickle me as well as travel, dancing, and a truly great dress. Of course, my happiest memories are made up of all three. I remember dancing through the riads of Marrakech. In pink minidresses, dancing across the cobblestones of Paris. In liquid jersey gowns, dancing on the Miami sand. In blue silks that mimicked crashing waves. Three fleeting moments, three rented dresses, three lasting memories. Responsibly. So much travel ha...

October 21, 2013 at 2:14 pm. How fitting. The modern necktie is descended from the neckerchief/ scarf given to Napoleon’s troopers. This served to identify them and allow them to collect various perquisites from the populace. The epaulets and cut of the jacket have a military flair. Nice way to wear a scarf!

Photography: Get to know your DSLR. October 13, 2013. When starting this blog aged 17 back in 2007, I didn’t have a clue how to take a good picture, let alone work a fancy DSLR camera (just take a peek at my archives! But 5 years later, questions related to photography are at an all-time high and my camera is practically fused to my hand. We’re inseparable. And it was all just through learning a few basic rules, tips and tricks with a bit of practice thrown in! I’ve teamed up with Nikon. Over the years I...

Nanette's Summer Camp | The Glamourai

Nanette’s Summer Camp. Elyse Taylor Maira Moura. Hair and Make Up. Nanette Lepore’s Amagansett home. Is among my favorite places in the entire world. It’s everything a summer house should be: cozy but expansive, filled with treasures without feeling precious. It’s a place for sleeping in. For sandy feet, sunset barbecues, and late night family dance parties attended by friends aged 7 to 70. It is the architectural embodiment of carefree summer fun. As well. I first fell for her suits on the Styleliner.

Basically Ideal | The Glamourai

My life is extremely busy, and summer is extremely hot. Combine the two, and what you’ve got is a lady looking for fuss-free, everyday wardrobe solutions that aren’t totally boring. This season, my two wins in that department have been this fantastic draped t-shirt. True as ever to my own shopping style, I knew I’d want to wear it everyday of the week so I stocked up and bought five) and superb shirt-skirt. It looks like a shirt! But it’s really a skirt! And a great heel. T by Alexander Wang skirt. While...

Peter Lindbergh: Interview with an Icon. Last December I secretly got to play fly on the wall as Peter Lindbergh. Shot model Andreea Diaconu for the new Donna Karan Cashmere Mist. Cashmere Mist was first introduced in 1992 as a body collection, and its intoxicating combination of Moroccan jasmine, bergamot, sandalwood, amber and musk has long made it one of my fragrance favorites. Andreea Diaconu perfectly embodies the Donna Karan ideal and continues a great legacy of famous faces that have represented t...

I added belts and hair bows and rattling cuffs to once-worn dresses in the name of differentiation. I layered.
