Fantasy Reader

Fantasy Books Read and Reviewed. Friday, September 24, 2004. Dan Brown - Da Vinci Code. An intriguing book. Secret societies and conspiracy theories, written by a self-proclaimed sceptic. It did take quite a while (about 150 pages) for the pace to pick up, but once it had started, it was relentless. Hooks at the end of nearly every chapter not a mean feat considering the average chapter length is only 4-5 pages. So go read this, and don’t feel guilty. Posted by Justin @ 3:12 pm. Tim Powers - Anubis Gates.

Fantasy Reader

http://fantasyreader.blogspot.com/2004/07/dante-alighieri-inferno.html

Fantasy Books Read and Reviewed. Tuesday, July 20, 2004. Dante Alighieri - The Inferno. The poem itself is quite incredible, and this is actually only the first of three books, to be followed by Purgatory and Paradise, which complete the Divine Comedy. Dante himself is led by Virgil through that circles of hell and witnesses the punishments that God metes out to sinners of different ilks. If you get a chance to read this poem do it! Posted by Justin @ 1:13 pm. Heart of the Mirage - Glenda Larke.

Fantasy Books Read and Reviewed. Tuesday, July 20, 2004. Guy Gavriel Kay - 'The Wandering Fire' and 'The Darkest Road'. I don’t think that I will ever be a blurb writer, and attempting a plot summary months after I have read the books is probably ill advised. But these books often left me in awe of Kay’s storytelling prowess. An absolute pleasure to read. Posted by Justin @ 1:12 pm. Heart of the Mirage - Glenda Larke. Fantasy Books Read and Reviewed. Tuesday, July 20, 2004. Beowulf is a legend about a Scandinavian warrior who is renowned for his strength in battle. He rescues the hall of Heorot from the monster Grendel, and his revenge-seeking mother, and returns to his land in glory. After many years as king he is once again called into battle against a dragon, which leads to the downfall of both him and the wyrm. Posted by Justin @ 1:14 pm. Heart of the Mirage - Glenda Larke. http://fantasyreader.blogspot.com/2004/05/48-shades-of-brown-nick-earls.html

Fantasy Books Read and Reviewed. Sunday, May 30, 2004. 48 Shades of Brown - Nick Earls. Nick Earls is one of Brisbane's most well known authors (I have previously read a collection of his short stories). His face is on a series of council ads and one of his novels has been adapted for stage and is quite successful here. ( Zigzag Street. If you are interested). A light read, and not a total waste of time, just not up my alley. Posted by Justin @ 11:56 am. Heart of the Mirage - Glenda Larke.

Fantasy Books Read and Reviewed. Tuesday, February 17, 2004. The Windsingers, The Limbreth Gate, and The Luck of the Wheels by Megan Lindholm. Yes, I have become a lazy git already and am hence reviewing three books at once. In my defense they are the last three books of a quartet and all relatively small at under 400 pages, and I've been sick. Posted by Justin @ 6:08 pm. Tuesday, February 03, 2004. Harpy's Flight - Megan Lindholm (aka Robin Hobb). I have started taking the occasional note as I read to t...

Fantasy RBI Baseball

Is this the most insane thing ever? Well, if you look at my work production recently, I'd say that's definitely the case. But I guess that's probably not what you're talking about. But short, fat, 8-bit guys hitting balls with edges? Now to me, that's baseball. And, as I mentioned earlier, a lot of other people my age feel the same way, too. Call it nostalgia if you like - I call it staying true to your roots.

Traditional Fantasy

Reviews of books traditionally from the Fantasy genre, not Romance, and some science fiction. 2:31 pm 7 January 2017. This story has a fairy tale tone, sort of like The Mists of Avalon or Snow White. In some ways it's very magical and has the feel of being set in a mock-Ireland that is at war with the English. It got a little slow in the middle, but overall a good story. Fantasy by Women Authors. A surpisingly warm Christmas story. 2:28 pm 7 January 2017. The story is mostly about Reg and his struggle to...
