I can't really complain because we had such a long summer and mild autumn. But now it is quite cold. Still, we've only had one real frost so far, so it's not as cold as it could be I suppose. Megz' Farming Adventure: March

http://www.farmnovice.blogspot.com/2011/04/march.html

Follow the adventures of a city girl trying to become a farmer. Lavender field as at end March 2011. Vegetable garden as at end March 2011. March has been a month of preserving. This month I have made:. Two batches of blueberry muffins. Pickled cucumber, cucumber jam, frozen cucumber (yes, sounds weird but it seems to work), two batches of tzatziki. Zucchini muffins, zucchini and chocolate cake, frozen zucchini. Apple jelly, dried apple slices. Have had a reasonable harvest of tomatoes from the plants on...

Megz' Farming Adventure: March 2011

http://www.farmnovice.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Follow the adventures of a city girl trying to become a farmer. Lavender field as at end February 2011. Vegetable garden as at end February 2011. The poor lawn suffered from the four weeks of school holidays and then two weeks of focus on the lavender. When I finally got a chance to mow, it was knee high. I had to mow two consecutive weeks in a row just to get it back into good condition. Potatoes: Are ready to be harvested. Lettuce: Original 6 harvested, 6 small ones growing. Pumpkin: 4 fruit growing.

http://www.farmnovice.blogspot.com/2011/01/december.html

Follow the adventures of a city girl trying to become a farmer. Lavender field as at end December 2010. Vegetable garden as at end December 2010. You can't really see from the photo above but I have a lot of veges growing in the garden. Everything is obscured by all the potatoes and a few weeds which have sprung up lately. The vege count this month is:. Potatoes: HEAPS. None are ready and not sure if they will be either as they are last years stock replanted. Blueberries: Coming along nicely although the...

Megz' Farming Adventure: February 2010

http://www.farmnovice.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Follow the adventures of a city girl trying to become a farmer. Well, so much for posting monthly. I probably should have posted at the end of December but it is a very busy time of year and I didn't get around to it. The potatoes are in various states of readiness. It's great to be able to walk out to the garden and dig a few up when needed. Still also in various sizes too, with the majority being small. The two fancy lettuces we have are not growing very big. I had been warned that if they don't ge...

Megz' Musings: June 2011

http://margham.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Well, doesn't time fly. I can't believe it's the beginning of June and the last time I posted anything was February. [EDIT: I can't believe it's the beginning of July and I started writing this a month ago]. All our puppies left home, and now we have had two kittens join our family. One day in late April, I sent Peter and Victoria to the supermarket to get the groceries. A couple of hours later they came back with several bags. I opened one up to find two little faces staring back at me! Victoria is very...

Megz' Musings: December 2010

http://margham.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

I cannot believe I haven't blogged anything for six months! Has it really been that long? But where to start? Ok, so what have we been doing since I last posted anything? One of the girls favourite places to go in Levin is the lolly and ice cream store. If Daddy gives them some money they will keep it to spend at the lolly store. Their favourites are lollipops and bubble gum. And that is where I think I will leave this update. I promise I won't leave it so long next time! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Megz' Musings: July 2010

http://margham.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Written on 1st July, published in December). Kathleen was involved in a ballet show last weekend. She did one show on the Saturday afternoon, one on Saturday evening, and one on Sunday afternoon. Plus three rehearsals during the prior week. Well, ever since then she has been really complaining she doesn't like ballet, doesn't like doing the dance because she gets tired, and doesn't want to do the show. Potty Training Part V. So two and a half weeks ago I changed my last nappy and it feel GREAT! The Rest ...

Megz' Musings: February 2011

http://margham.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Just before Christmas, our dog Skye gave birth to seven puppies. We were taking bets on how many. As she is so young and little I hoped for three or four puppies. Peter thought five. We were both blown away when it turned out to be seven. But they were all healthy thank goodness, and have grown into seven beautiful pups. With the puppies out of sight, they have dropped off Victoria's radar a bit. But she still loves them to bits. The puppies are all very compliant at being carried around by her. So Diamo...

Megz' Musings: Dear Kathleen

http://margham.blogspot.com/2011/02/dear-kathleen.html

Five years and 11 days ago you arrived into this world. Tomorrow you start your first day of school. You are such a big girl now, I can't even begin to describe how proud I am of you. You are intelligent, beautiful, inquisitive. You ask lots of questions and think about the answers. You still love being the centre of attention and you love telling jokes. Your favourite joke is "Knock knock. Who's there? Banana. Banana who? Knock knock. Who's there? Banana. Banana who? Knock knock. Who's there? Your favou...

Megz' Musings: July 2009

http://margham.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Haven't heard much from me lately? I've been hibernating for winter. It is SOOOO cold. As well as daycare we have also joined the local Playcentre. We also regularly go to playgroups and music groups and the library. I have to get out of the house most days for my sanity. Plus it's warmer to go out than stay home! The girls are starting to play together sometimes (with help from me) but mostly Victoria likes to play with toys on her own and Kathleen likes to play pretend with me. Kathleen has also st...

Megz' Musings: Dear Victoria

http://margham.blogspot.com/2011/01/dear-victoria.html

As one year ends and another begins, and as you have recently turned three years old, I thought it was about time I committed to writing a little bit about you. You are a most interesting child – at times easy-going and at times very difficult. I'm still not sure I understand you completely. Your favourite thing at the playground is the swing. Since we have put up our swing at home it is one of your favourite things to do at home (second to playing with the puppies which is your number one favourite ...
