A blog by and for Beausol locavores

A blog by and for Beausol locavores. Monday, December 8, 2008. Farmer Harry's generous shares of turnips and radishes combined with my inexperience with (and somewhat dislike) of the vegetable to provoke an online recipe search. Fate and gourmet taste led me to epicurious.com. Where I found a delightfully simple recipe for Turnips Gratin. For Thanksgiving, I altered the recipe to suit radishes. Is it Nastiness?: Saturday Evening Out

http://nastanis.blogspot.com/2008/11/saturday-evening-out.html

Monday, November 17, 2008. Saturday night we had a babysitter who even managed to get lil-M to bed! Cspew and I had a very nice evening. We ate dinner at Duck and Dumpling, an Asian Bistro I'd describe as americanized vietnamese food. The food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding. Although the Raleigh country club type was out in full force that night.maybe they always are at non-kid restaurants downtown. Love that picture. and it remind me of a fun night! Is it Nastiness?: Political emotions

http://nastanis.blogspot.com/2008/11/political-emotions.html

Friday, November 07, 2008. A state with Palin as governor, a convicted felon a longtime senator, and another senator with current enormous legal problems, why would one ever suspect? Eg wow, that Dr. Chewie lady was right, if I improve something that's not a bottleneck it has no impact on the current outcome of the line. Somehow that's not as dramatic as a political realization. I love the part about wanting to high-five M's teachers! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Others blogs I stalk.

Is it Nastiness?: October 2008

http://nastanis.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 22, 2008. My most recent revelation wrt political generalizations of groups of people is Patio Man. What a great name! Who is a patio man? Make a guess or you can read David Brooks' description. This morning I rode the city bus to work. I've only ridden on 6 city buses since we've been in Raleigh, and had 2 break down on me. Hopefully I'm just unlucky and their failure rate isn't that bad. What a terrible system. There must be a better way! Thursday, October 16, 2008. This topic is esp...

Is it Nastiness?: February 2007

Tuesday, February 20, 2007. So big props to Northwave who makes a kickass boot and actually offers it up to size 11, gasp! I'm excited to finally get to play along in the world of women's snowboard gear. Thursday, February 15, 2007. We had a great evening last night. Big-M and I have the tradition of celebrating Valentine's Day with our friends. Every year this decision is confirmed as a good one. Cheese I know, but true. Wednesday, February 14, 2007. Hopefully I'm just unlucky and their failure rate isn't that bad. As a side note, if I didn't have an enormous belly making it nearly impossible to bend over, I would have just ridden my bike this morning. What a terrible system. There must be a better way! Is it Nastiness?: reducing? stuff

http://nastanis.blogspot.com/2008/10/reducing-stuff.html

Wednesday, October 15, 2008. The Bronco is officially sold and out of our possession. We, and especially cspew, have lots of great memories while driving it, but we're now glad to be free from whatever window motor, wiper motor, gas tank, etc. will be breaking next. The subaru will be getting a hitch soon unless the jet skis somehow disappear. We played while moving in. The computer gear and files are now in the living room so we have created a new blank in the game. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Is it Nastiness?: March 2006

http://nastanis.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 30, 2006. How do I know who is a fair-weather excerciser? Bad trail ettiquette (as already mentioned), Bad gear, e.g. running in sketchers and too much clothing for the weather, and finally the look of death due to lack of breadth. Anyway, get out and excercise in this beautiful weather, just don't let this be the only time you do it. Tuesday, March 28, 2006. Politics on Cspew's behalf. Friday, March 24, 2006. A dirty job…. April 10, 2014 · Filed under Garden. By far the most difficult part of starting our garden indoors this year has been dealing with the dirt! We do the planting and transplanting in our kitchen. Those of you who know me will probably find this shocking! I honestly can’t believe I let it happen either. It is such a mess! Farm share stories

Saturday, November 17, 2012. Inspired by the Boston Globe Magazine's Roasted Punched Potatoes. Recipe probably paywalled), I smashed my own potatoes. (Upon reviewing the magazine photo, it seems I punched mine rather less genteely than the recipe called for.). If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't smash the potatoes quite so flat, for more fluffy soft potato between the crispy bits. I ate mine plain, but either ketchup or baked potato toppings (sour cream, cheese, bacon, chives) would be nice. Cider i...
