Pepper Bridge Winery: Change of Seasons
http://pepperbridge.blogspot.com/2009/11/change-of-seasons.html
Tuesday, November 24, 2009. The seasons have changed here in Walla Walla. The 2009 harvest is over, the wine is finished and in barrel. The weather has turned windy and cold and of course the days are suddenly getting dark very early. We have had a nice dusting of snow in the Blue Mountains for the last couple of weeks, a sure sign that fall is turning into winter in a hurry here in the Walla Walla Valley. The change in the weather means lots of work for the vineyard crew. These canes grow along the grou...

Pepper Bridge Winery: May 2009

Sunday, May 24, 2009. Amavi is Moving to the Neighborhood. There has been a flurry of activity along Pepper Bridge Road the last few weeks. Earth movers and road graders have been busy building a drive way and a site for a barrel room. Pepper Bridge's sister winery, Amavi Cellars, is moving to the neighborhood! Amavi has outgrown its current tasting room on 13th St. in Walla Walla. I am sure that they will learn to adjust eventually. Saturday, May 9, 2009. Congratulations on winning the large formats!

Wednesday, August 26, 2009. Barrels and More Barrels. This week at Pepper Bridge we are in the midst of final preparations for harvest. We are just about 3 weeks away from bringing in fruit, depending on what mother nature has in store for us here in Walla Walla. We have been receiving new barrels on an almost daily basis. Our wine making team has been busy in the cave. Prepping barrels for the new vintage. Assistant Wine Maker, Tim Kerrigan. We will then use that barrel for one more vintage. After t...

Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Hard Work for Harvest. We are at about the mid point for the 2009 Harvest here at Pepper Bridge and it has been a lot of hard work. It is easy to see hard work happening all around the winery, the sorting of grapes, the cleaning of bins, and of course the punch downs. What isn't so easy to see is all the hard work that goes into getting the grapes to the winery. While we typically harvest the red varietals at about 25 to 26 Brix. With all the sun and heat that we have had t...

Sunday, December 27, 2009. Now that the 2009 vintage is finished and resting in barrel, it is time to prepare for bottling the wines from 2008. Every year at this time we print the labels for our new vintage. Our winemaker, Jean-François just returned from British Columbia where we have our labels printed. It is a very sophisticated and ecologically friendly printing process. The copper foil embellishment is than added and the labels are ready for us to use. Attached to a new bottle size as well. We have...
