Thursday, January 12, 2017. Homily: Thursday - 1st Week of OT 2017 - "Harden not your hearts". If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. There are many places within the Bible which describe a terrible spiritual disease which, if left untreated, can lead to the death of the soul. The disease is called “hardened heart”, or, in the ancient Greek translation, “sclerocardia.”. How do we guard against this spiritual heart disease? Learning from the stories of scripture and the lives of the saints, ...

http://fatherkevinestabrook.blogspot.com/2017/01/homily-jan-3-2017-holy-name-of-jesus.html

Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Homily: Jan 3 2017 - Holy Name of Jesus - Name of Love and Power. Throughout the Gospels, he is known by many titles: Son of God, Son of Man, Son of David. He is called Christ, Master, Lord, Logos, Alpha and Omega. Today in the Gospel, he is called by John the Baptist, the “Lamb of God”. We speak his name with reverence, awe, and love. Liturgically, when his name is mentioned, we are instructed to bow our heads in reverence. St Bernadine took the first three letters of Jesus&#82...

Tuesday, August 16, 2016. Homily: August 16 2016 - St. Stephen of Hungary, first of his name. There are a number of saints who were kings: St. Edward, Good King St. Wenceslas, St. Hedwig, and a number of saintly queens: St. Elizabeth of Hungary, St. Clotilde, St. Margaret of Scotland. Even some saintly royal couples like St. Henry and St. Cunigunde. Through his strict, yet benevolent rule, King Stephen brought about order and peace. He was a true evangelizer of his country. Monday, January 2, 2017. Homily: Jan 2 2017 - Sts Basil and Gregory Nazianzen - Authentic Friendship. Today, the Church honors two of the great Cappadocian Fathers, Basil and Gregory Nazianzen. Both were distinguished theologians and champions of the faith in the fourth century, developing and defending our most holy doctrines of God as Trinity. As bishops and doctors of the Church, Basil, Gregory, and John were really the backbone of Catholic Orthodoxy during a period of doctrinal struggle and confusion.

Friday, September 30, 2016. Homily: Sept 30 2016 - St. Jerome - Understanding Scripture. Though he lived nearly 1700 years ago, St. Jerome’s impact upon the Church—upon the intellectual and spiritual live of Christians—has been profound. The Opening Prayer today refers to St. Jerome’s “living and tender love for Scripture” And his work in this area is his greatest gift to the Church. That’s a pretty bold claim, isn’t it? We should read, and meditate on Scripture every day. Having a “living and ...St Jero...

Monday, October 31, 2016. Homily: Monday - 31st Week in OT - Humbly regard others as more important. Having concluded our weekday reading of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, we’ll read this week, Paul’s short four chapter letter to the Philippians. Reading through this letter, one can tell that Paul has a special place in his heart for the Philippians. And this makes sense, because according to the book of Acts, Paul established the Church at Philippi. Through mercy, through service we come to experience ...

Sunday, May 1, 2011. On the Tenth Anniversary of Perpetual Adoraton at Resurrection: A Reflection. I gave this reflection this afternoon at the dinner following the 1130 am Mass celebrating Eucharistic Adoration and Divine Mercy Sunday.
