Fatherly Instinct - A daddy's life. What fathers care about when they care about being fathers. Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Twenty one sparrows: A touching story about parents, children, and their lifetime bond. I know I haven't blogged in a while (been busy being a parent), though I am (finally) working on some new ideas. In the meantime- and in the spirit of this blog- I thought I'd share this link to a very touching and very short film about parents, children and lifetime love. I hope you enjoy it.

Fatherly Instinct - A daddy's life. What fathers care about when they care about being fathers. Sunday, May 22, 2011. Evolution: It's a good thing (.for humans and baby care books). Although scientists are still working out the exact details, sometime about 100,000 to 190,000 years ago homo sapiens sapiens- the redundantly-named wise wise human- evolved. I can think of several reasons why picking a basic baby care and parenting guide must have been much easier back then. Also, there was no writing. Fame,...

Fatherly Instinct - A daddy's life. What fathers care about when they care about being fathers. Friday, June 3, 2011. On hope, expectations, and disappointment. One of the most normal and touching things that people in the U.S. do as loving adults invested in an infant is to dream and hope on its behalf. These hopes are often quite specific and usually follow a pretty standard script:. FAVORITE QUALITY] , so that. I hope the baby is. BRILLIANT , so that he. CAN GET INTO A GOOD COLLEGE, ". Sweet Baby Smudge: 2016: under review
http://sweattbabyblog.blogspot.com/2017/01/2016-under-review.html
Sunday, January 1, 2017. This year feels like there is an awful lot to reflect on, both good and bad. Every year has ups and downs and it is important to remember both. I haven't done as well blogging this year which makes me a little nervous about years to come. However, in keeping with tradition (at least in the last several years, here are 2013. I wanted to blog about our year. I had some parenting wins like science projects. I also had the most terrible parenting moment. Momma, are you still sad?

Saturday, January 5, 2013. And reducing vulnerability to negative emotions. This helps explain why, in the last year as I have been growing and raising a baby and moving toward reappointment and tenure, my house has become a disaster and I no longer have the energy to bake. Sorry Chad, something had to give. Anyhow, I have been thinking a lot about these areas and ways that I could improve. Small, concrete, measurable goals with those core values in mind. Stay off Facebook at work (Value: employment).
Sweet Baby Smudge: Being a toddler is tough
http://sweattbabyblog.blogspot.com/2013/07/being-toddler-is-tough.html
Wednesday, July 17, 2013. Being a toddler is tough. Especially if your genes predispose you to frequently trip over air, fall for no reason, and bump into every piece of furniture in an open room. Poor Alaina. Her mommy is pretty clumsy. So I'm sure you can imagine just how unsurprised we were to learn that Alaina got quite the shiner at snack time when she fell off the picnic table. Oops. She's okay. Lots of kisses were administered. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Lilypie - Third Birthday.
Sweet Baby Smudge: Where does my time go: Follow-up
http://sweattbabyblog.blogspot.com/2014/12/where-does-my-time-go-follow-up.html
Sunday, December 14, 2014. Where does my time go: Follow-up. Baby A says it's important to be open to change. It took me a little longer to respond to this. Than I was hoping which, once again, is analogous to responding to manuscript decision letters (well, for everyone except one colleague I know who shall remain nameless.). I had a couple of questions from friends and family that I thought I would mention here- this blog garnered almost as many texts and emails as the one on postpartum anxiety. Feed A...

Tuesday, December 31, 2013. 2013: A year in review. I haven't ever done a holiday or end of the year letter but I thought this might be a good tradition to start on New Year's Eve (you can tell what kind of fun we are having here, huh? At least it's better than last year. When Miss A was sick! So, the good:. 2013 brought A crawling. Her very first birthday. We welcomed my sister and her wonderful family to Oklahoma. http://sweattbabyblog.blogspot.com/2016/12/days-20-22.html
Saturday, December 24, 2016. The pictures from OSU's Sensitive Santa turned out so well! On Tuesday night, we worked on teacher gifts to take to Wednesday's party. We are so so fortunate to have such wonderful and amazing teachers. Amazing photos below by the incomparable Ms. Amy. We also pulled the snow dough back out. Again, if there is only one sensory activity that you do, this is a good choice! Thursday was Polar Express and Pajamas Day, which A had been excited about for two weeks. The Orange Rhino...

Sweet Baby Smudge: 2016: Day 17-19
http://sweattbabyblog.blogspot.com/2016/12/2016-day-17-18.html
Sunday, December 18, 2016. The weekend was full of fun, having friends come over, a birthday party, making Christmas tree cones, and a Snowman Breakfast. I always love how the cones round out the village. On Saturday, we got our first (tiny but freezing! Taste of winter weather so it seemed like the perfect time to throw a Snowman Breakfast! Speaking of throw, the elves 'asked' A to throw some toys in a bag to donate but she said no.). Labels: 25 days of Christmas. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Sweet Baby Smudge: The Monster Within
http://sweattbabyblog.blogspot.com/2016/07/the-monster-within.html
Friday, July 29, 2016. It is important to start with the information that A is doing perfectly awesome and I am physically fine. I've thought for days about whether or not I can share the events of this week. I started an entry yesterday and it got deleted so I wondered if that was a sign. But it has stayed heavy in my heart so I am trying again. I may decide to delete it. Maybe it just needs to be written. Maybe it needs to be shared. We will see. One of my main take aways was that not talking about it.
Sweet Baby Smudge: 2017 Performance Review
http://sweattbabyblog.blogspot.com/2017/01/2017-performance-review.html
Monday, January 2, 2017. Every year I pontificate about not really believing. In New Year's Resolutions and that we should focus more on goals and values. Frankly, the more time I spend on this, the more I think I just lie to myself. I love having lists and checking things off. So here is where I hope to be (or hope to be progressing) by the end of the year. I should note, I'm fully aware that too many goals is a great way to fail across the board. That's kind of my M-O. Read 4 books/month on average.

Blog of a Pinoy Dad and Husband. Sunday, November 16, 2014. Preparing for the Coming of Little Ahab. My Beloved Wife Lei is already in her 7th month of pregnancy. Her belly is now the size of a big watermelon. Our baby, on the other hand, is very active. In fact, I could see Lei’s belly actually moving whenever our baby moves inside her belly. Since it’s just few weeks before her delivery, Lei decided that we go to the nearest mall to buy the things that our Little Ahab will need. 2 Diaper pins / clips.

Friday, September 12, 2008. Do you know what you want to be? Do you know what you want to be? Have you asked me? This may be one of the most difficult questions for anyone to answer: What do you want to be? Or what do you want to do with your life? For six years I worked in high school ministry. Without exception, year after year, the answer to that question would not come easy for our seniors as they looked toward college and the rest of their lives. What to do? Thursday, September 4, 2008. Post #2 or ‘What project? What is E.L.S about? It’s about a normal citizen caught in a global crisis which hit Earth. If you enjoy playing games that force you to make tough decisions which have a real impact on the game world, you will enjoy playing ELS. I will have more to say about the story when the game is at least 50% complete. Where did the idea of E.L.S come from? A combination of games and movies. More on this later. How will E.L.S play? When will E.L.S be released? Right now its just me, but tw...
