On Monday, September 26, 2011, I will be having a total Proctocolectomy with Ileostomy surgery. My colon, rectum, and anus will be removed, and my small intestine will be attached to the outside of my abdomen creating a stoma. 8:28 AM Edit This. Well, it’s been about half a year since my surgery. I know! Time’s fun when you’re having flies! So, now I have to stay away from raw fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, dried fruit etc. I use the blender a lot for fruit/veg smoothies. Now the wound on my abdomen where they removed my colon has healed beautifully, as has my stoma. Having an ileostomy can be traumatic at times, but overall I’m used to it.
