People's attitude towards new technology and scientific discoveries is generally positive. Their attitude is also a motivating drive for people to come up with new things. It's the exceptions that result in people becoming alienated from new things that show up every now and then. What makes them think of this as creepy? Purpose: What is the goal? I could loo...

Thursday, March 19, 2009. I also thought I'd find some technology candidates, to evaluate and test any arguments or criteria against them. One of these is ELIZA, the computer therapist. Here is how the session went. How do you do. Please state your problem. I am sorry to hear that you are sad. I'm not sure I understand you fully. Wll I'm a sad person. Do you think that coming here will help you not to be sad? Are you saying no just to be negative? You are being a bit negative. It sort of grew on me.

ypx-rhet400: Reserching Creepiness
http://ypx-rhet400.blogspot.com/2009/04/reserching-creepiness.html
Wednesday, April 1, 2009. I've also started to think about what disciplines would be concerned with a topic like this. Psychology was the first big word that came to my mind and a few clicks later I was looking at a list of articles that addressed the topic of how technology is invading people's privacy, I guess this somehow borders on what I want to talk to, so I have some material to go through there. Understanding is a delaying tactic". Friday, March 26, 2010. In like three hundred years there will be no white people. There will be no black people. There will be beige people". That was Russel Peters, a Canadian-Indian, stand-up comedian, and my cousin just introduced him to me. Or me to him. In a couple a hundred years there will be no white people. Only Beige. Mainly. That made me think of my Asian-American history professor married to an Algerian. And of my other history professor, who is American-...

Understanding is a delaying tactic". Sunday, January 17, 2010. Defying the Platitutdes: An Inspiration From the Inane. It has been a while since I've written anything on this blog. Of course, I am quite aware that I never actually had a following, except maybe for my rhetoric class two years ago (doubtful though). But still. I feel an urge to explain myself to my non-existent audience. Not to mention that there is something both comforting and truly disconcerting about writing a blog entry.

Understanding is a delaying tactic". Sunday, February 22, 2009. I thought, this is my chance to commit to writing, get feedback and be on my way to a brilliant career in journalism. The blog was created some week ago maybe and, as excited as I was about finally having my very own blog, I was preoccupied with school work and hadn't had the time to get acquainted with my Dina - Writing and Editing. All I had to do now was post something. And thence started my predicament. I used to be Head of an Editorial ...

Understanding is a delaying tactic". Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Frigid Kazakh Nights: Oh Mercy, Where Art Though! I've been meaning to write a blog entry for a while now but just haven't had the time. Instead I am posting a story I had to write for UNICEF Kazakhstan as part of the Child Abandonment project that I'm currently involved in. But anyways. Without further ado, I sincerely hope you do not enjoy this. Nurzhigit Makenov, the Deputy Chief doctor on clinical work, was puzzled when he saw the baby....

Understanding is a delaying tactic". Wednesday, March 18, 2009. RHET 400) Review: Disney Animated Movies - A Magical World. The article can be considered somewhat unusual because, for one thing, the title of the article does not reflect its content. Though this type of article is usually characterized with garnished titles to lure the reader into reading it, it nevertheless has to maintain a certain level of relevancy. Scott’s title achieved the former but not the latter. Generally the article was an int...

Understanding is a delaying tactic". Wednesday, April 1, 2009. RHET 400) Animated Movies - Phase 1 Research. That said, though I am panicking, I'm still not completely and utterly aggravated. It was very interesting getting introduced to the different cartoon characters and now I just need to ground myself: I was (and still am) in the data collecting phase and now (or pretty soon) need to shift in a "formulating a framework and synthesizing an argument" one.
