Sleep is a substitute for caffeine, it turns out - Simon Tatham. Sleep is a substitute for caffeine, it turns out. After a couple of weekends of hard work on free software recently, I was feeling pretty tired, and decided to dedicate the weekend just past to intensive rest and catching up on my sleep. It turns out that if I really try hard to catch up on sleep, and succeed, then I become noticeably more caffeine-. And I can't even use ‘being half asleep’ as an excuse…. Comments Leave a comment.

Let's say something nice about. - A Journey to the Source of the Nile. An duine og is a chail ne dhiadh. 09:46 am December 4th, 2014. Let's say something nice about. Oh dear: I've just read an unfavourable review of the Chancellor's Autumn Statement, by an accountant. I have maintained the view that Osborne's sole economic objective is to accelerate the concentration of wealth; and, measured against his objective, he is the most effective and successful Chancellor that we have ever had. Liking it, and hi...

Why Can't The English Teach Their Children How To Do Maths? The place where lost socks go. Jun 5th, 2015. Why Can't The English Teach Their Children How To Do Maths? Today's Guardian has an article about outrage over a high school maths problem. The question in question was described as "disastrously hard", "especially unfair", and "proving impossible even for the most able students". Really? I was intrigued, so I had a look at the question. It read:. So what's the big deal? June 5th, 2015 11:59 am (UTC).

The internet is stalking me - Gossip from inside my head. The internet is stalking me. Mar 19th, 2009 01:14 pm. Looks like Google streetmap has finally reached London. And so the internet is STALKING ME. Go to Google Maps. Search for Fillebrook Road in London, press the streetmap button, and go to number 37 Fillebrook Road. Find the white van, and zoom in on the person walking past it. That's ME. EDIT: Direct link to stalking me here. Behave yourselves while I'm away. ;). 2009-03-19 01:31 pm (UTC). For s...

Gold, gold, gold, gold, gold - Simon Tatham

Gold, gold, gold, gold, gold - Simon Tatham. Gold, gold, gold, gold, gold. It randomly occurred to me this morning to wonder if everyone else has had the same thought about this, or if it's just me. For those who have read Discworld novels. View poll: Gold, gold, gold, gold, gold. Comments Leave a comment. I suspect Terry Pratchett would answer the same as the people who answered your poll! I'd go with that. I have a song in my head, but I have no way of looking up where the music comes from, sadly.

David and the stegosaurus had learnt a lot about each other - Who am I to refuse the universe?

Ho · am · I. Middot; to · refuse · the · universe? David and the stegosaurus had learnt a lot about each other. He internet is poisoned. In my lunch break I started reading a blog on (er, mostly) Chinese politics, and within 5 minutes was confronted with slash involving David Miliband and a stegosaurus. No link, because it wasn't very good porn. I hope in the fullness of time somebody will do better, and occupy that particular niche in triumph]. Middot Leave a comment. That's, um, quite a specialist.

Ho · am · I. Middot; to · refuse · the · universe? Sometimes there is no man behind the curtain. T's not so surprising that lobbyists. Are offering to demonize Occupy Wall Street for money. That's their job, after all: latch on to whatever is happening, and demand cash to support or hinder or manipulate it. What's sweet is how fixated they are on finding some rich central backer pulling the strings. Maybe it's Soros? After all, these people wouldn't do anything unless they were being paid for it:.

Purple fluff and cattery. I'm reading the Decameron. At the moment. It's bizarrely hard going. Here's an example of a story in the section Happiness after Cruel Adventures. Not to mention that the Decameron is massively in favour of cheating on people, to the extent that refusing someone who propositions you to cheat, even if you loathe them. Which Shakespeare lifted directly from Tale 9 on Day 3. About the bit after the War of the Ring where Aragorn and his buddies go off to kill any remaining orcs that...
