The Fearless Travel Writing Knitter: An Actual Finished Object

http://fearlessknitter.blogspot.com/2013/09/an-actual-finished-object.html

The Fearless Travel Writing Knitter. One woman trying very hard not to apologize for a broad range of interests. Friday, September 13, 2013. An Actual Finished Object. I began with using an expensive final fabric, but my fitting issues were such that I sought the advice of the owner of my local fabric store. Apparently she agreed because she literally cut the shirt off of me, leaving a boob hanging out. Thankfully, I had tucked a T-shirt in my sewing bag as I was leaving the house. Tesserae Rug - 15%.

The Fearless Travel Writing Knitter. One woman trying very hard not to apologize for a broad range of interests. Thursday, May 30, 2013. I re-prioritized my knitting queue to take full advantage of the late afternoon sunlight that streams into my front windows in the summer—so important on small gauge projects with complex knit patterns worked in dark yarn. The Fearless Travel Writing Knitter. One woman trying very hard not to apologize for a broad range of interests. Monday, August 19, 2013. I recently completed two sewing projects that have been in my “to-do” pile since 2011 when my recently widowed MIL opened her husband’s closet for all to take what they wanted. Two years later, by the time I finally allow myself to bring them to the top of the list, it turns out my thing had become a. Green and plaid green shirt prior to transformation:. But wait you a...

The Fearless Travel Writing Knitter. One woman trying very hard not to apologize for a broad range of interests. Sunday, September 22, 2013. Finished Object, Plus a Start. The finished object I’d like to share today is largely a repair job. I'm sure there is a way to machine sew the lining to the cuff of the outer shell, but that’s a big spatial and order-of-tasks puzzle. After messing with it for a few minutes, I realized that it would be much quicker to machine sew the lining to the shell bod...Vogue p...

fayaway knits: Unintentional Failure

http://fayawayknits.blogspot.com/2010/12/unintentional-failure.html

Monday, December 20, 2010. O·ver·sight [oh-ver-sahyt] – noun. 1 An unintentional failure to notice or do something. That pretty much sums up this project. I just finished blocking a Christmas stocking for my mother in law, and I was feeling pretty smug that I was almost done with it. But, I really should have given more thought to the whole "knit stocking" thing. Given how popular knit stockings are, it never once occurred to me that knitting is stretchy. fayaway knits: DIY Stitch Markers

http://fayawayknits.blogspot.com/2010/08/diy-stitch-markers.html

Friday, August 6, 2010. I've been coveting a set of pretty beaded stitch markers for at least a year now, and last weekend I finally decided to do something about it. Being a do-it-yourself-er (and exceedingly cheap), I consulted some rudimentary instructions I found via Google, picked up some beads on sale at Michael's, and fashioned a handful of my own stitch markers. Despite not knowing the first thing about beading, I think they turned out alright. I especially love. Project just to try them out.

fayaway knits: Estate Sale Bounty

http://fayawayknits.blogspot.com/2010/12/estate-sale-bounty.html

Wednesday, December 15, 2010. One early Saturday morning in November, I got a call from my mom asking if I wanted her to purchase a bunch of knitting supplies she had just found at an estate sale. There were some of those "joined needles," a case of "regular needles," and a bunch of pattern booklets all for $20.00. I was half-asleep at the time, but, of course, I said "sure! I'm sure glad I didn't pass it up because I found a few interesting treasures. Sally, The Fearless Knitter. View my complete profile.

fayaway knits: I'm not dead, really!

http://fayawayknits.blogspot.com/2010/12/im-not-dead-really.html

Sunday, December 12, 2010. I'm not dead, really! Sorry for the prolonged silence around here. There's a really good reason for it: I didn't knit a stitch for months. I just fell into a uninspired funk and stopped knitting. Seriously, I didn't even buy any yarn! It was that bad, folks. But, the weather started to change, and well, I've got a little blog fodder again. Over the Thanksgiving break, I started a Skinny Empire t-shirt from the incredibly awesome Custom Knits. Before my next post. Really. I live...

fayaway knits: Back at It

http://fayawayknits.blogspot.com/2010/08/back-at-it.html

Tuesday, August 3, 2010. So, I've holding out on ya'll. I've been over my knitting funk for about a week now, and I've started plugging away on Swish Steeples again. While it's not a very popular pattern on Ravelry, the pattern is very well written, and it's been smooth sailing so far. I've always knit raglan sweaters, and this marks my first bottom-up sweater. I'm a little anxious to see how the sleeves will fit into the armhole shaping, but so far it's going very well. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Gaia Girl: Bug Hill update

http://gaia-girl.blogspot.com/2008/03/bug-hill-update.html

Musings of an earth goddess. Thursday, March 27, 2008. Happily, Megan did continue to nurse after that 48 hours. I told her I was proud of her, so many women I know would have stopped at the first sign of problems. But she can't get the hysterectomy she needs because she can't pay the co-pay.". Ah, I do love this country's health system! How much is the copay? Our health care system is insane. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bad Mom, Good Mom. Fearless Travel Writing Knitter. Gaia Girl: April Woes

http://gaia-girl.blogspot.com/2007/04/april-woes.html

Musings of an earth goddess. Tuesday, April 10, 2007. April financial showers (downturns) bring May financial flowers (upturns)? So this month is expensive. Income taxes, car insurance and now our television died. April feels expensive, and it is, but we're deferring a good portion of it interest free until next month. I had to set some financial goals for April so that when the bills come due in May we'll have enough to cover it. My goals:. Your post is an amusing bit of serendipity. I've been re-re...

fayaway knits: Sale Yarn

http://fayawayknits.blogspot.com/2010/07/sale-yarn.html

Thursday, July 15, 2010. Today is one of my favorite days of the summer: downtown Lawrence's sidewalk sale. For the first time ever, I made it downtown first thing in the morning and was at the Yarn Barn. Shortly after they opened. (Nice to see you Dee Anna. I probably went a bit overboard quantity-wise. I brought home a pound and a half. Of the stuff, which works out to about 1350 yards. At least I don't have to worry about running out! July 15, 2010 at 2:17 PM. What a lousy time to be without a car!

Something to Dye for. Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Yarn School Spring 2013 - Part 1. Wow it's been a while since I updated my blog. I've been busy dyeing fiber and spinning. I'm doing more drop spinning than wheel spinning. I have plans lots of plans and never enough time. I got a part-time job and still homeschooling at least one of the kids. I wanted to share all my goodies from Yarn School this year. I got to go with a great fiberista friend. Who has finally figured out I am weird. It took her a while.
