A new community for Linguaphiles: sesquipedalians
http://sesquipedalians.livejournal.com/13829.html
He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother - Rufus Wainwright. A new community for Linguaphiles. We're a new community - we went up 24 hours ago - for people who love words and grammar. We're a home for old, rare, misused, interesting and abandoned words and grammatical structures. Join us and inform, learn, debate and discuss until you absolutely can't go on. We're very friendly and we'd love the company of some sesquipedalians such as yourselves. Join us in our unhealthy love of language! Post a new comment.

Just because you're a hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobe does not make your flauccinauccinihilipilifications of pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanocon. Iosis fair simply because its a sesquipedilarian. Don't be such a truncated icosododecahedron-head. Oh, and I used pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanocon. Iosis in normal conversation today :). Monday, December 31, 2007. New Look for the New Year. So, as you hopefully noticed, Emergent. Has a new look. Hopefully you like it. I did enjoy the last one, but I you get a little tired of seeing the same thing for six months straight. So - inspired in part by Melissa's latest post. Probably because so few people actually know what MIT's colors are. ;). Let's make it a good one. :). Saturday, December 29, 2007. Haiku, Tanka, and a Promised Response. As a word of caution, some med schools (most notably ...

Sunday, August 17, 2008. So at family brunch today, my dad brought up the famous "Barack Roll" that's been all over the intertubes lately.and I was aghast to discover that the rest of my family had absolutely no idea what it was like to be rickrolled. A problem which I have now corrected. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sad little king of a sad little hill. Friday, November 30, 2007. Since the first time since AP Chemistry my junior year, I once again have goggle lines from working at my UROP. I feel like such a nerd, and I'm not at all ashamed. ;). So, first semester is almost over.mixed feelings there. It's getting more difficult for me to post long blog entries - partly because I have less time than I'm used to, but mainly because the entries I want to write tend to be on pretty complex subjects - so I hope you don't mind the short ones. ;). Because this...

Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Sad little king of a sad little hill". Some of you may know that I am mildly obsessed with the TV show Firefly. Which is a fantastic mashup of the sci-fi and Western genres. I've watched the entire series now (some episodes multiple times), but this scene remains one of my favorites. Just thought I'd share. :). Dude, that guy totally just got pwned! August 6, 2008 at 10:49 PM. August 7, 2008 at 9:55 PM. I love Firefly. It's my favorite tv show too! August 8, 2008 at 6:03 PM.

Friday, February 29, 2008. February 29 - the day that comes once every four years. Almost as widely anticipated as Pi Day. Seriously - my advising group and I went out to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory (for free! Oh, I do love MIT's free food) a few nights ago, and we actually ended up talking about how all of us were really excited to see what Pi Day at MIT would be like. Yeah, we're nerds. Anyway, I have my first 5.12 test in oh, 40 minutes. Who's excited! In other news, it's Friday. :). Crazy, I kno...
