DESCRIPTION

This is one among three or four poems about addiction and addicts I’ve been working on. It stems from the suicides of some good friends and where their lives were going, all along, and where their lives ended up. Ultimately, like one other poem in the set, it began as a photograph of a fenceline I took near Wetaskiwin. From the photo came a phrase, from the phrase came poems. The poem does lose a little of its flow without the indents. Oh well. The good country is familiar and warm. Or like rags beside.
