Developing Developer: August 2006
http://developingdeveloper.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Faculty Friend.Technology Tutor. Tuesday, August 29, 2006. Back to what I love to do. Because we are friendly, he felt comfortable telling me this. That is such an important first step, so shame on me for going off campus to get away when I should be out there chatting with faculty! On the other hand, in front of other faculty, I doubt he would have admitted that! Maybe now that Gardner's here I can get back to more of my one-on-one development work. Developing Developer: September 2006
http://developingdeveloper.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Faculty Friend.Technology Tutor. Monday, September 25, 2006. The problem is, the ISSOTL site doesn't have any details up yet about the sessions! I could only attend on Thursday and part of Friday, so I have to see if they will be presenting during those times. Joe Hoyle was suggesting at our last PETE lunch. Joe has also written up a book of tips. To be used freely, which he has gotten a lot of good feedback on, and which I have advertised on the small college POD list. Developing Developer: good article on student evaluations
http://developingdeveloper.blogspot.com/2006/07/good-article-on-student-evaluations.html
Faculty Friend.Technology Tutor. Sunday, July 16, 2006. Good article on student evaluations. I came across this article today, and I want to remember it when it comes time to talk to the new faculty about student evaluations. Theall does a good job laying out what research shows about evaluations, and also pointing out that what matters most is how the evals are used and interpreted. Developing Developer: February 2006
http://developingdeveloper.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Faculty Friend.Technology Tutor. Monday, February 20, 2006. Metaphor- not just for lit types anymore. I have been working with a Bio professor who had an interesting problem. Her super bright students love her teaching and excel, but she is having a problem with the midrange students ending up with lower grades and less satisfaction with the course. She has bunches of A's, bunches of C's. Where are her B's? And she used it well. Right after class she said "Well? Did you hear it? And I laughed. It was...

Unending Conversation - blog of proximal development
http://www.teachandlearn.ca/blog/2006/07/14/unending-conversation
Blog of proximal development. July 14, 2006. I have been thinking about the changing role of the teacher for quite some time and this entry is my attempt to vocalize some of my conclusions. It seems to me that the old conception of what it means to be a teacher is, generally speaking, predicated on the notion that teachers convey information. Teachers are content experts who dispense that content to those who need to acquire it. 2 I have learned that thought is internalized conversation ( Vygotsky. 3 I n...

I agree with them. My presentation for our Teaching with Technology day is on Cultivating Conversations Worth Having. But the other sessions are on multimedia and podcasting etc. So I am having that conversation with myself again: why am I here? Posted by terryd @ Sunday, May 07, 2006 0 comments. Links to this post.
