Glass Slippers and Dishdashas. Na’am, but La, but Na’am, but La… →. May 14, 2008 · 9:14 am. Sheik Saad, the Crown Prince and the former Emir of Kuwait, passed away. Last night. The country is officially in mourning for three days, so we have an unexpected (and frankly unwelcome) break from school. We were actually in town near the palace last night for dinner, and there was a motorcade blocking traffic as we tried to leave. Now we realize it was surely related to this event. May 4, 2008 · 8:09 pm. Glass Slippers and Dishdashas. Before we came to Kuwait, neither of us had ever really been to anything one could call a ball. Prom? Yes But a ball? What are we, Cinderella? But since moving to Kuwait, we’ve been to four, and we are pretty tame on the ball-going spectrum compared to many of our coworkers. Any chance people get, it seems, they throw formal parties/ galas / balls, often on the British or American Embassy grounds because they have (gasp! Here we are looking fancy:.
