We're off travelling the world! Saturday, December 5, 2009. Zigzagging between Chile and Argentina. After a couple of weeks of thinking I need to update the blog, I am finally getting the chance. We haven’t exactly been traveling in big capital cities so a good and speedy internet connection has been hard to come by. Before long, it was time to be on our way to El Calafate (still on the Argentinian side) on the Longest Bus Journey We’ve Taken This Year. Anyway, as I said the journey was pretty interestin...

We're off travelling the world! Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Iguazú falls and Santiago de Chile. Time for a blog update. on Tuesday last week, we left the musical paradise of Salvador (and in case you were wondering, yes, I did have to drag Gary out of there kicking and screaming) and made our way to the region of the Iguazú Falls (at the south of Brazil, right on the border with both Argentina and Paraguay). View of Santiago from the top of the hill - check out the huge mountains on the back! On the plus...

We're off travelling the world! Thursday, July 30, 2009. The shoulder got better eventually, and in the middle of last week we were able to leave Quito for Baños, a lovely town sitting at the bottom of a huge green mountain. It is a "healthy waters" place, a bit like Bath in England I guess, and there are long, thin waterfalls coming down the mountains into the town. We had superb views from the roof top terrace of our hostel. Yes, it makes for a funny sight! In the evening, little girls from the village...

We're off travelling the world! Thursday, December 17, 2009. Buenos Aires. cut short! I am writing from the UK (we're at Gary's parents Graeme and Joyce's house in Southend), we got back yesterday. As I said in the previous entry, we arrived in Buenos Aires on Wednesday last week, to the lovely temperature of 28 °C. A nice change from freezing cold Ushuaia - no problem to adapt to the change! There was, however, an aspect of Porteño. On Thursday and Friday we had a walk around the Centro. Funnily enough,...

We're off travelling the world! Friday, August 28, 2009. Attempting to dance Salsa. Attempting to dance Salsa. Mise en ligne par Carine and Gary. Here we are having a go at Salsa. Have a good laugh ;). Saturday, August 15, 2009. We thought the Plaza Bolivar looked a bit like Trafalgar Square, what with all the pigeons there:. Although upon taking a closer look you do spot slight differences. Might take Carine there for a treat on our last day. Anyway, we're now just about to head off to the airport to fl...

We're off travelling the world! Saturday, June 27, 2009. It's been two weeks today since we left the UK, and we have settled down very well in Quito. It is a great "little" place (well, it has 2 million inhabitants but you see what I mean) with plenty to do, nice sunny weather (although rather cold, what with the altitude) and very welcoming people. Here is a (partial) view of the city:. On Monday, we are leaving the city to spend five days in the Galapagos islands - the opportunity of a lifetime! Partly...

We're off travelling the world! Tuesday, May 5, 2009. From Sabang we chose the sea option to get to El Nido, our main destination there. This involved taking a small boat, capacity 14, with big wings (outriggers? The evening in Coron was an one to remember. The guys I’d been diving with, 3 middle aged Russians called Nikolay Ivanovich, Dimitri Rudolphovich and Vladimir Ivanovich (can you get more Russian than that? We reached the bottom, 100m below the surface, with the help of some well anchored ropes a...

We're off travelling the world! Friday, April 24, 2009. Another slice of Frenglish by Gary. Monday, April 20, 2009. Off we go again. Other tha...
