Feltabulous: February 2015

http://feltabulous.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 24 February 2015. I set to and made lots of tube beads out of the ecru clay and baked them. I then painted the ends with some acrylic paint, which I rubbed off to just leave a faint colour. Having glazed them with a satin glaze, I threaded them onto eye pins and made the necklace longer. You can see the beads I added in this photo, but I was pretty happy with the match. I just hope my colleague is happy with them too! I visited the website for Lucy Boston's house, Hemingford Grey. And was partne...

Feltabulous: Feeling a bit sad...

http://feltabulous.blogspot.com/2015/07/feeling-bit-sad.html

Thursday, 23 July 2015. Feeling a bit sad. Http:/ www.adventureswithwords.com/2014/11/podcast-sad-face/. I was going to write a blog post about a lovely visit to Grimsthorpe Castle earlier this week and I shall still do that, just not tonight. I don't put any plants out at the front of the house that are expensive, or really special, but I was naive enough to think that they would be enjoyed by people, without being stolen. I hope that my next post will be on a more positive note. 24 July 2015 at 04:44.

Feltabulous: May 2015

http://feltabulous.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, 30 May 2015. I have been enjoying colour in different forms over the last few days. Above can be seen some coloured quartz beads which I couldn't resist sorting. (I'm the same with coloured pencils - I have a tin of Caran D'Ache watercolour pencils which my Dad bought me many years ago and I have to sort them periodically! Oh, and there's embroidery thread which has to be wrapped round a plastic card and then colour sorted too). And Clematis Arabella is just starting to flower. It's a bit of an...

Feltabulous: April 2015

http://feltabulous.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 29 April 2015. Toby's Japanese mouse' - update. You may remember I posted about my love for 'Toby's Japanese mouse' from the book 'The Children of Green Knowe' by Lucy Boston and how I saw a resin version for sale in the Hemingford Grey shop. I told my friend Rachael about them and she very kindly made me a polymer clay version, which is lovely. You can read my post about it here. You'll need to scroll down the post a little). Even with the shiny black eye. Links to this post. This was posted ...

Feltabulous: August 2015

http://feltabulous.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, 29 August 2015. I finally got around to making some necklaces. The one above features my polymer clay bead, with peridot, aqaumarine, amazonite and apatite chips, both on the necklace itself and in the tassel. I think the colours of the gemstones really complement the polymer bead. You may remember that I bought this peridot chip necklace at the car boot sale. I have taken it apart and am using the peridot from it. Links to this post. Tuesday, 25 August 2015. I used the translucent clay with th...

Farmhouse Traditions: Mother's Day crochet flowers

http://farmhousetraditions.blogspot.com/2015/03/mothers-day-crochet-flowers.html

Sweet vintage home sewn. Sunday, 15 March 2015. Mother's Day crochet flowers. I have been working on creating a crochet flower corsage over the last couple of weeks. There is an abundance of patterns for this purpose-the crochet flower is more than well documented! However, I wanted something that was exactly right as I wanted a special flower for today- Mother's Day. As I used 4 ply cotton and a 2.75mm hook with the measurements suggested the rose would come out a little small so I adjusted it start...

Sweet vintage home sewn. Monday, 6 October 2014. Getting to the heart of wedding craft! I really need to thank you all so very much for taking the time to leave such kind and thoughtful messages on my last post about the loss of our lovely dog Kate- your kindness is truly appreciated-thank you. I have begun to crack on with the wedding crafts with a vengeance-less than three weeks to go now! At last I could put to use some of that gorgeous vintage lace I have and seek out more Paris themed fabrics! I use...

Farmhouse Traditions: August 2016

http://farmhousetraditions.blogspot.com/2016_08_01_archive.html

Sweet vintage home sewn. Saturday, 20 August 2016. It's a lovely summer again with lots of visits this year from family. I love to make a little keepsake gift for my adorable niece and nephew and this year decided to make them a patchwork cushion to take home. Now for me, making anything for a boy is quite a challenge-I just have never had the practice and can't say my interest runs to football and the like! However, there is one theme that I do enjoy and it is so linked to Cornwall.pirates! After much r...

http://www.feltbyrae.com/2012/03/fascination-with-fascinator.html

Still a Blue Peter girl. Monday, 19 March 2012. Fascination with a fascinator. I have always loved hats, fascinators and all types of headgear, so when I bought the feathers for embellishing the masquerade masks. I bought some hat netting too. In my stash I had some tiny scraps of shimmery, smooth chiffon type fabric in shades of purple that I found in a big bag of fabric I had received from Freecycle. However the best laid plans of mice and and men (and crafters everywhere! I foresee a new. Not for Kids...

Felt by Rae: Meet Myrtle

http://www.feltbyrae.com/2015/05/meet-myrtle.html

Still a Blue Peter girl. Saturday, 30 May 2015. One of the first things I treated myself to when I moved in to my flat getting on for 2 years ago was a dressmaking mannequin. My Lovely Mum named her Myrtle; suits her doesn't it? So I quickly hand sewed it over my only evening dress and added a sash to cover the dodgy stitching! It's taken me a while, but I've finally got my craft room pretty much sorted now. Well, moving across the country and new jobs can take a bit of getting used to! Now all I need to...

Home - Feltabulous Felt

I create original handmade felt pieces inspired by elements of the landscape around me. Embellished with hand/machine embroidery, textured yarns, threads and fibres, each piece is unique. I make the felt using the wet felting technique. 100% wool is used - pre-dyed Merino or natural Black Welsh and Texel cross (from my sister's sheep. Although I can replicate an image, due to the nature of felt making, two pieces will never be identical. More of my work can be seen in the gallery. And on my blog.
