I have been driving Beverly, my dear friend the Beverage cart, for four summers, and have just started my fifth. In an effort to discuss my thoughts on my job, my work and the way these affect my feminist ideals, I decided to start a blog on facebook. My hope is that this will help me continue to express myself intellectually, explore matters of etiquette concerning the beer girl, and show that it is a real person driving that beer cart.

In this way, I commune with God on a more personal level in nature, including on the golf course. Everybody laughs at me, but the animals there do become a kind of friend. In reading my previous posts, I realized that in my rant on being cold on the golf course, I barely touch on the main issue that I had intended to address. That being the entitlement of (predominantly) men to discuss and critique the clothing I (and presumably other bartenders, waitresses, cart girls) choose to wear when working. Don’t you know you’d make much better tips that way? Why do you feel you have the right?

Wednesday, June 30, 2010. On a Summer Day I Chanced to Stray. Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus is a conservatory like most other conservatories. Glass walls gleam in the sunlight, and while the outside is stark white, on the inside, there's nothing but green. Good for the cactus, though. . Every room features at least one piece of Chihuly glasswork, but that's a story for another day. This is exciting; in the courtyard, they're preparing to instal their yearly summer exhibit, Savage Gardens.
