This Side of Changed. What’s the Magic (Pass)Word? On May 16, 2013. It’s awfully quiet around here, isn’t it? I spend my life looking for a little quiet these days. But it seems sad that the only place I can find it is here. Call it a trial balloon, call it a second chance, call it doubling down on the first bad hand. Maybe I should reconsider, and make a little noise. We’ll see. Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to email (Opens in new window).

This Side of Changed. What’s the Magic (Pass)Word? On September 18, 2013. So I miss writing. I miss it a lot. I’m so busy right now, being mom and Scout mom and school mom, and senior management and career counselor, and money manager and daughter and breadwinner, and wife, that I have no time to be a blogger. Plus there was that whole implosion where I wasn’t sure I was ever going to be a blogger again. It’s because I don’t have this anymore. Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Disclaimer v.3 | This Side of Changed

This Side of Changed. What’s the Magic (Pass)Word? On October 26, 2014. I’ve learned the hard way that nothing, not even an anonymous online blog, is really safe in this day and age of socially-acceptable internet stalking. That being said, if nothing is safe, then certainly nothing is sacred. So I needed a disclaimer, since I’m republishing a lot of my old posts, painfully slowly, after scanning each for content, and inserting the text [edited for inappropriate exmarital referential content]. Aka her re...

ButchInTheKitchen: Easy Shrimp and Pea Risotto
http://abutchinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2012/04/shrimp-and-pea-risotto.html
Friday, April 6, 2012. Easy Shrimp and Pea Risotto. I felt like titling this blog post, "Fear and loathing in the kitchen," because there are just some foods I'm afraid to cook and some equipment *cough, cough* (last year's xmas bread machine gift that's still in the box) that I'm afraid to use. Risotto is.err. was. One of those foods. The first time that I tried it was a few years ago at a teeny tiny restaurant called. In Greenwich Village in New York City. Well, here I am, a full grown adult BUTCH, and...

Sunday, November 11, 2012. I always seem to bite off more than I can chew. This is the drawback to having the type of personality that I have have ( Orange. Don't let tell my photography teacher that though, he'll just give me more homework for being a smart ass. Well, it's finally getting chilly here in Arizona. Cold for us is 60 degrees. I know those of you on the East coast are snickering about right now but hey, we're used to it being over 100 degrees most of the year here. That to most, cilantro tas...

ButchInTheKitchen: Strawberry Lemonade Bars
http://abutchinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2014/10/strawberry-lemonade-bars.html
Sunday, October 26, 2014. I love lemons. I love nearly everything lemon flavored. I also love strawberries. So, when you combine strawberries AND lemons, you have nirvana. Give these bars a try, take them to a potluck, or just keep the whole batch for yourself. You won't regret it! Well, except for the few extra pounds you'll pack on lol. 1/2 cup butter, room temperature. 1-1/2 cups all purpose flour. 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 medium size lemons). 1/2 cup pureed strawberries (about 3/4 cup berries).

ButchInTheKitchen: Hearty Salsa
http://abutchinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2011/05/hearty-salsa.html
Sunday, May 8, 2011. I love, love, love salsa! It's one of my absolute favorite foods to eat and share with friends and family. As an Arizona native, it's only fitting that I have my very own version of this popular southwest sauce. I made some earlier in the week for a Cinco De Mayo get together at work so I thought I'd share it with you. The preparation takes a chunk of time (about an hour if you're working by yourself) but it's well worth it. This recipe is for a massive amount.about a gallon! Or list...
