How the hell did you put up with that jerk? She sighed. "Wasn't easy. You were so far into that book that I hardly knew you.". True Tip: if you must write a bio, try to avoid one of the darkest American humorists ever. You may not survive. Didn't matter," she added. "I love you.". Monday, August 29, 2005.

Of Books and Bicycles: Books I've begun
http://ofbooksandbikes.blogspot.com/2006/12/books-ive-begun.html
Of Books and Bicycles. Sunday, December 17, 2006. I began Orhan Pamuk's Snow. A week or so ago and I'm enjoying it. I'll probably wait to say anything substantive about it until I've finished it (I'm maybe 2/3 of the way through), but it's an interesting follow-up to Rory Stewart's The Places in Between. Since both books deal with Islam, although in very different settings and in different ways. But Snow. Last night I began Richard Holmes's book Footsteps: Adventures of a Romantic Biographer. The Public,...

Of Books and Bicycles: On writing
http://ofbooksandbikes.blogspot.com/2006/12/on-writing.html
Of Books and Bicycles. Saturday, December 16, 2006. I most likely will never write a novel or even a short story, but this post. Kate is writing about Francine Prose's Reading Like a Writer. The Hobgoblin is writing a novel, of course, and I've got a good friend who's a novelist, and I read other bloggers who write fiction, and I'm interested in the insights they have into the craft of fiction and I find myself wanting those insights too. Of Books and Bicycles: Franz Kafka's "A Hunger Artist"
http://ofbooksandbikes.blogspot.com/2006/12/franz-kafkas-hunger-artist.html
Of Books and Bicycles. Friday, December 15, 2006. Franz Kafka's "A Hunger Artist". Cross-posted at A Curious Singularity. I have a copy of Kafka's Complete Stories; it's been sitting on my shelf for quite a while, and I'm not sure if I'll ever read all the stories in it, but I would like to read more, as I enjoyed "A Hunger Artist." I feel like I've read a lot of Kafka, but when I think about what, exactly, I've read, I realize it's only The Trial,. What's artistic about not eating? Posted by Rebecca H.

Of Books and Bicycles: My year in books, continued
http://ofbooksandbikes.blogspot.com/2006/12/my-year-in-books-cont.html
Of Books and Bicycles. Tuesday, December 19, 2006. My year in books, continued. Blogging has meant that I'm now involved in conversations about books I never was before, and I'm part of books groups - online and in-person - that are new to me. I've made some great online blogging friends, and one of them, Emily. Turns out to live near me, so we can be - what do you call them, in-person? What else . I found Book Mooch. I've developed some unexpected obsessions this past year - for books about books and re...

Of Books and Bicycles: My year in cycling
http://ofbooksandbikes.blogspot.com/2006/12/my-year-in-cycling.html
Of Books and Bicycles. Friday, December 22, 2006. My year in cycling. The skinny type that can fly up the hills seemingly effortlessly. I learned a lot about riding in a pack too. I've talked to a number of women this fall who are interested in racing but who talk about being afraid of riding with a large group of people, and it is. Posted by Rebecca H. '80s Video Romance Novel Guy - It's a swell life...
http://suburbanbeatnik.livejournal.com/57376.html
Its a swell life. Working as a freelance illustrator. 80s Video Romance Novel Guy. Feb 11th, 2010 at 11:32 PM. I really liked Carla Capshaw's previous inspirational romance, "The Gladiator" (think the Ridley Scott movie, but less ridiculous, with a tasteful religious theme)- it also had a nice cover. This cover, however, makes me less enthusiastic. Is it just me, or does the duke look like he belongs in an '80s video? The burning question, of course, is which one! What do you guys think? You've got to wa...
