Students in Level 1 have physical activity class once a week for an hour. The program at this level is designed to provide movement experiences that help students develop motor skills and the characteristics of teamwork and sportsmanship. Cooperative games give students in this age group the opportunity to learn self-control and practice taking turns.

Forest Grove Community School. Audubon Society of Portland. Level One visited Forest Park for a hike and a program called "Beautiful Birds." Students learned more about the local forest ecosystem on the hike and looked for signs of wildlife. During the classroom program, pairs of students examined bird skeletons and nests! We even got to peek inside the bird hospital. Level Two visited Beal Pond to practice identifying birds, investigate the functions of the wetland and look for signs of wildlife.
