AND SEW IT GOES: My fusing method
http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com/2006/04/my-fusing-method.html
Sunday, April 30, 2006. Since I first wrote this entry, the Beacon company, makers of Liquifuse, have renamed and repackaged the product. It is now called "Liquid Thread". It is still the same product and can be used in exactly the same way. I have developed my own method of fusing fabric that fuses the edges only. I thought I'd show you how I do it. Here are some of the things I will be using:. In the oatmeal tin—these are. Regular colored pencils, they are thicker and softer. In a small bottle with a f...

Tuesday, August 04, 2015. Some make it, some don't. Is this piece going to be so far out it just won't mix with any of the other entries? Will the juror be one of those that only likes one style, or hates words on art, or thinks commercial fabrics are unacceptable, or, or, or is this just horrible and stupid? Rejection is hard to take, but it's part of the program. At the SAQA Conference this spring, Maria Shell. The Rhythm of Rain. A Sense of Summer. Anne, Patron Saint of Grandmothers. AND SEW IT GOES: May 2015
http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 30, 2015. Now, where was I? I think this is day 23 of this trip and I am falling behind with my blogs and photos. I think I left off in Charlotte, and then what? It's beginning to run together. That was next. We spent two nights in Asheville, NC at the Beaufort Inn. This was a little splurge and celebration that Roy was onboard for the rest of the trip. Here he is in front of the Inn. We spent some time downtown in Asheville. The Grove Arcade building was beautiful, with some nice shops.
AND SEW IT GOES: International Quilt Study Center - Day 7
http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com/2015/05/international-quilt-study-center-day-7.html
Wednesday, May 13, 2015. International Quilt Study Center - Day 7. We are in Lincoln Nebraska today and we spent the morning at the International Quilt Study Center. At the University of Nebraska, a place I have wanted to visit since I first heard about it. This '30s appliqué quilt depicting lotus blossoms was so typical of that era's colors and techniques, but I thought the design quite a bit more sophisticated than most. Oh, how I love red paisley! This may be the craziest crazy quilt I've ever seen.

Wednesday, January 28, 2015. The words are Shakespeare's, not mine, but I am putting them to work in a new fabric work. The theme for the show I am going to submit it to is something inspired by poetry or a quote. The words don't need to be on the work itself, but I decided I wanted them there. I could have (should have? Our revels now are ended'. Our revels now are ended. These our actors,. As I foretold you, were all spirits and. Are melted into air, into thin air:. AND SEW IT GOES: Philosophy
http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com/p/guiding-principles.html
This is a post I wrote awhile back. I liked thinking about what guides my work. It seemed like it could continue to give me, and maybe you, things to think about if I gave it its own page. Composition is the first and most important element. Once you are well into a piece it is hard to change the composition. Spend the time at the beginning to work it out and save yourself some grief later. Composition, composition, composition. Color is important, value is even more important. Be true to your materials.
AND SEW IT GOES: Out of the West—Long Straight Highways - Day 6
http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com/2015/05/out-of-westlong-straight-highways-day-6.html
Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Out of the West—Long Straight Highways - Day 6. After our long drive it felt good to get out and walk around Cheyenne. The hotel is in a historic part of town not far from the state Capitol. Across from the hotel is Depot Square and the beautiful old sandstone depot building. These big boots seem to be all over the place. Lots of great old buildings in the area. I am loving this. Thank you. When the super highways were being built (Or conceived) during the Eisenhower adminstration ...

Saturday, March 28, 2015. Terry's Technicolor Dream Shoes. Last fall when we were going to Spain I read a friend's post on Facebook about the shoes she had worn to Paris and how she wore them everyday and how wonderful and comfortable they were, so I messaged her to find out what they were. Skechers Go Walk shoes. I went out and bought a pair and they were all she claimed and not even really expensive. I took several pairs of shoes to Spain, but these were the shoes I wore. How hard could that be? It is ...
AND SEW IT GOES: Welcome to the Heartland - day 8
http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com/2015/05/welcome-to-heartland-day-8.html
Friday, May 15, 2015. Welcome to the Heartland - day 8. The flat, windy highways of Nebraska gave way to the softer, greener rolling farmland of Iowa, and rain. The setting and old, but scrupulously maintained buildings and homes are beautiful. Here is Ray, headed for the well-stocked quilt shop. (You know how he. One thing I did especially enjoy was the Woolen Mill, where they weave beautiful wool and cotton blankets. Soon we were back on the road, crossing the Mississippi River into Illinois. A lon...
