http://www.threadbornblog.com/2015/08/the-printed-fabric-bee-giveaway-insects.html
Sunday, August 2, 2015. The Printed Fabric Bee Giveaway: Insects! July's Queen Bee was Jane Davila. And she requested that we Worker Bees create fabrics that incorporated insect designs. I was inspired by my recent trip to Cape Cod. We stayed in a house in the woods.which also happened to have a wonderful ocean view (the best of both worlds). What surprised me the most was the constant fluttering that was going on in that woods.not butterflies.but moths! And here are some of the other fabrics you can win.

All Over the Map. These images are from my latest series. I had been doing mostly sculpture but have turned more to 2-D and stitching in the last few years. I work in many fiber mediums and find that I cycle through various mediums and techniques again over time. A couple different times I made sculptures with crochet, other times with knitting or papier-mache. See Ann Liddle's Resume.

All Over the Map. The other direction is sculptures built around a wire armature. In the “Chair Series”, I have appliquéd raw edged fabrics with multiple layers of hand stitching and the addition of beadwork. Each piece has a human face. adding the human element yet again but continuing to blur the line between what is human and “non” human. I like to think of these pieces as visual poems. See Julie Booth's Resume. See Julie Booth's Blog.

All Over the Map. Effigies in human and animal form have always held a fascination for people; we relate to them easily; they have power to tell a story and create an emotional reaction. I have always made dolls. As these figures have developed, they were no longer playthings, but became informal sculptures. Literature and myth have supplied themes for many of the pieces. This is a new medium for me and it has turned out to serve me well as a means of expression. See Anne Buchal's Resume.

All Over the Map. My work evolves from an intuitive process of combining colors, textures and found objects. A piece develops organically, starting with a concept or an object and growing and changing until I feel an idea is fully expressed. Techniques include fabric appliqué, bead embroidery, painting and collage. I have a fondness for outsider, folk and children's art and strive to achieve a similar freedom of expression and raw creativity. See Beth Latture's Resume.
